    i love the way Roy rolls... he does not want to prove he is better than a blue belt, he helps him learn... such a rare thing when rolling with a black belt, they will just submit u 3x per minute

    Well deserved purple.. I really enjoy watching this video. No one was using overwhelming strength or athleticism to their advantage. Everyone was very technical. It's beautiful display of BJJ

    WHY CANT THERE BE A SCHOOL LIKE THIS WHERE I LIVE I SEE STRAIGHT TECHNIQUE ON EVERYTHING no one is forcing anything very patient and flows im like wow the whole time i cant wait till i can develop my tech like that

    Sweet. Love the way this video is more intimate, with the music toned down.
    Great techniques and smooth rolling. Well deserved.

    Roy Dean requires a specific number of techniques from each position, as well as a certain number of three technique combinations (roughly 70 techniques total). It's up to each athlete to create their demo, which is why each one is a little different. The idea is to showcase techniques that reflect your particular game.

    I hear Roy is a bit of an odd duck outside of BJJ but watching him let his students tap him so they can finish and learn their techniques...... He's a fantastic BJJ instructor. OSS!

  • @kennjay79
    @kennjay79 Před 14 lety

    i noticed that every purple belt demo is a little different, is this because they get to choose the extra submissions, or do they pull from a group of techniques taught in class?

  • @ccrass4443
    @ccrass4443 Před 2 lety

    Looks like Roy trains his students in BJJ like a Judoka is trained in Judo. Every belt has certain techniques they must master before promoting. Great way to train and to promote. Wish more schools taught that way. Where I train you “learn” 96 techniques (3 each class) in a 16 week “fundamentals” class that you repeat every 16 weeks for about a year before you get an opportunity to go to another 16 week curriculum with another set of techniques. There is never time to actually learn the techniques.

  • @kanguesso
    @kanguesso Před 13 lety +1

    @cadillacboi420 The reason why you won't see many schools like this where you or i live is because BJJ or MMA in general for that matter has now sadly become more about money. The business potential of this beautiful art is so promising that it prompted all the enthusiasts to come out of the woodworks in an effort to cash in on this gold rush. All the Karate schools that were open just 5 years ago have now turned into BJJ or MMA schools. You have to be very careful of who's teaching you and why.
