Love him or loathe him, darts isn't the same without PDT. Personally I was a huge fan. Ive been to a lot of live darts and there was always something very special in the air when Phil was about to walk on!!!

it would be nice to see past champs given a chance again, but after thinking about it for longer may its best they just stay retired or as some have said have a legend comp for them.
There was a Legend comp in the past it was on Sentanta Sports in 2008

They should have honorary starters like the US Masters. Two world champions play 1 leg each year to open the world championship. Maybe wheel out Lowe or Priestly to play Taylor.

The PDC should do this like the golf where a player who has won can come back every year it would be great to see John Lowe, Phil and Bob Anderson etc

In golf old players can still compete, see Langer at the Open, but it'd be hard to see Lowe and Deller etc winning a leg these days.

I would have the plan to bring a tournament to life tht features both current world champions, runner- ups and major winners as well as the old ones. One against one, first to four legs, all of the emn, women and youth of both PDC and BDO, then rotating. 2 points for winning, one point for a draw (with a time limit it is possible) and 0 for a loss. Then at the end we will see the winner.
The only man still living that can say "I got two televised 9 dart finishes in one game" I say good luck MVP on handling that kind of glory pressure. Gary Anderson recently got a televised 9 Darter after a four year drought.

When Dennis packed in he was still hitting 95 to 100 + averages on Tv ..if he came back he would still have experience and he'd be more relaxed so no pressure , he wouldn't be losing 9 legs on the bounce fact !
When I heard he was doing hundreds of exhibitions this year, I had a the feeling that there may be a comeback at the end of it all. With a month of practice he'd probably reach the quarters, but why bother??

Its not unfair because if Phil hadn't retired he would still be high enough in the rankings even if he didn't play a single tournament

Whats happened is there has been a void in darts since phil taylor left and the players know it as well as the crowd.
Probably why MVG has gone off the boil because he has no player to fire him up like phil did.

all past world champions should have a way to play at the worlds imo. same as barry did for snooker.
Snookers different, less players, less youngsters coming through, less matches, and the old school can still give a good account of themselves. Taylor`s the only one who would`nt get thrashed, as he`s still active in the game. Wrong to offer wildcards for the Worlds, when players are touring their ass off to get up the rankings.
It might work say in the Grand Slam, to have an `old` group, where two of them would go through to knockout stage.
None of us are perfect, and I know Phil isn't. But I love and respect the shit outta the ol' lad. It'd be great to see him play in the Worlds.

Have to say, and never thought I would, but the darts schedule has gotten way too much in the last 5-6 years. As a fan, I absolutely love to watch darts. But there comes a time when it's just not as special anymore, when there is at least one televised/online tourney every month it just devalues the occasion. Awsel as that, I'm sure a lot of the players would welcome the idea of more frequent, longer breaks in the calendar. It's just gotten a bit out of hand in that regard, in my opinion.

I know what you mean, although I don't think it'd be the same without 'chase the sun'. I think they even tried another one for a while, but didn't last long. I think there could be more thought put into to some of the walk-on songs and nicknames though. Some of them are desperate 😂
The schedule isn't way to much this is darts not basketball or an athletic sport. I enjoy watching the matches I think it is fine the way it is.

Yeah, I think he does clarify that Bobby won the News Of The World Championship though. Rod Harrington didn't win the World Championship either of course but he did win two World Matchplay titles.
