While in Kindergarten, I contracted _Shigella_ and though not knowing it at the time, quite nearly died. They are some of my first _"I can remember when.."_ memories. I was _so contagious_ and near death at *5-years-old* that my *ENTIRE* primary school (K-2nd grade) let out for like a week or so. I don't remember contracting/beginning to grow ill, I only recall being in the hospital. With a *106.4°* boiling fever, I was literally _packed_ in ice with numerous i.v.'s in hands, wrists, arms, everywhere. I was so weak from *dysentery* that when I had to go, I would have to wake my mom up and her _physically carry me_ to the toilet, i.v. pole, bags and all, set and hold me up on the toilet. As most of these events took place during the night/wee a.m. hours, she would sit me down, I'd lean forward a bit on her and she'd lean on me and we'd nap a bit. Because I could be 2 minutes or half an hour, there was no telling. It has left my stomach one *messed up* organ! As I report from the porcelain throne now, lol. She's a bad bug!

Is shigella indole negative or positive ?

The majority of Shigella spp are indole negative (unlike E. coli). However, there are certain shigella strains that are indole positive

However, Shiga toxin itself is an exotoxin
