I've never had the opportunity to thank you Bill Griffith. My imagination was unleashed in part through this icon of your creation. I hope you got a few residual checks for your published works~
I got into zippy as a child in the 70s
I used to collect underground comics
Zippy the pinhead saved my uncle from a nervous breakdown.
I loaned him my comics and he bonded with Zippy!
I personally think it was a Spiritual experience.
I have a autographed Zippy drawing cuz the lady across the street from me (Josaphine) was related to the Artistand found out Zippy was my Comic Super hero. (In East Oakland we had a strange sense of heroes)
Yow! Happy 80th Birthday,
Bill Griffith!
The late 70's early 80's was a really, weird time to be alive.
I remember when this movie was coming out in Canada, Much Music ran a "Win A Dream date With Zippy" contest
Good job.
many-a-time, boyo. -shared_reality
exactly the video I wanted thank you.
Ah, Zippy was a prescient soul. Here's one of his quotes from way back when:
"All life is a blur of Republicans and meat."
"Who you callin' pinhead?"
ITS ON NETFLIX WATCH INSTANTLY WOOOOOOOO :D

I guess you could find more of this documentary on CZcams---or you could look into buying it on DVD---it's not going to be broadcast on any TV channel I know of in the near future--it's from 1989, after all---

Zippy is not your alter ego. David Burn is.
Mutant Z-Man! Mutant Z-Man!
How did you get a workprint?
I can't remember which strip, but:
"...But could you see him greeting kids at Disneyworld?"
"Hi, I'm Zippy! We'll explore our subconscious yearnings while satirizing current trends! My polka dots contain hidden messages! Let's speak in tongues, then send out for pizza! Are we HAVING FUN YET?" (crying children/family fleeing in dismay)
