- Eric Mangini joins Colin Cowherd on The Herd after two dominant performances in the conference championships this weekend. Mangini tells Colin what his biggest takeaways were from the NFC Title Game, where the Philadelphia Eagles soundly defeated the quarterback-less San Francisco 49ers. According to Mangini, Jalen Hurts will need to play much better against the Kansas City Chiefs, who scraped out a win against the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship. The two also discuss the future for Aaron Rodgers, and what he's expecting to see in Super Bowl LVII.

Facts! And look at the numbers he puts up against the best teams, they are literally the same. Quarterbacks generally have worse numbers on the playoffs because teams are much stronger on average. He has no drop off, none. He's the same guy, what he does, is not replicatable, defenses have little to no answer

I love everyone going for the eagles to win. When the chiefs won the SB all they kept talking about was SF couldn't possibly lose, they ended up winning. The next SB everyone was on the chiefs and they lost. The chiefs play so much better as underdogs when all the "experts" pick against them

The whole pocket qb thing is a bit silly with mahomes I believe he was pff #1 pocket qb he’ll be just fine later in his career assuming he can stay somewhat healthy

Exactly. Mahomes is great in the pocket. That said, there's no denying how utterly insane he is outside the pocket. I do agree with Mangini that eventually Mahomes is going to lose that part of his game to some extent, so he will have to do more from inside the pocket, but Mahomes is already one of the best QB's in the league from inside the pocket, so he's far from lacking there. Now, will he need to get even better inside the pocket as he ages to make up for the plays he eventually won't be able to make outside the pocket? Of course he will, and I think he is going to.
Mangini is a known Brady fanboy and cannot stand the idea of another QB being better than him.
Mahomes will always be a one dimensional QB. No rush ability, no ability to take a hit and needs refs to bail him out
If he was a shade lighter the media would take notice to his pocket presence more.
Philly not sticking to tradition? What tradition? The greatest history they had before their first Super Bowl was the mad scientist in Andy Reid and he gave them 5 NFC championship appearances and 1 Super Bowl game. They then fire him and subsequently hire Andy Reid's OC Dougy P to go ahead and win the Chip on a Philly special. They then fire Dougy P 😆 and now with a 2nd year head coach are heading to their third Super Bowl in franchise history. I'm not a Philly fan but I too wouldn't be holding on to history when I'm winning in the present!

The deciding factor is Mahomes...hes been through just about every circumstance and has ..with two or three exceptions...come out on top...if Chiefs defence can play on fire like they just did..and tame eagles running game...it gives the offense a chance to put up the points they will need to win
As a Bucs fan that's born and was raised most of my life in Tampa. I hope the Chiefs beat the Eagles I just can't stand them. I wish that Dallas would've played the Eagles in the Divisional round I think that game would've been closer than ppl think. The 49ers had no QBs Dallas should've been there to make the NFC Championship game a real game.

I don't believe that Brady would play for a West Coast team at this stage of his life. He wants to be around his children, can't blame him for that. If Green Bay can unload Rogers, GB would be better off. They are NOT willing with him anymore so its time to give him the boot.
Niners have been dinged not because they're not strong enough, but because they want to play the most physical style of football imaginable, and they can't sustain it over a 17 game season themselves. They're fake tough guys who rile up their opponents, and can't handle getting punched back.

True. Plus, KC slapped the Eagles 42-30 back in Oct 2021. Jalen Hurts was QBing then too and he had the same roster pretty much. The Eagles had a weak schedule. Their win over the 49ers wasn't impressive. They were down to their last QB and weren't healthy at all. We 40 bombed the 49ers this season when they were healthy. What makes the Eagles so fkin special. Seriously?

Thank you that play they are all talking about he flopped hard. The worst 2 things were the block in the back and the dpi call. The 3rd down thing was super weird but it didnt end up mattering. There was no hold on the last run by mahomes (if people really think that was a hold then theres holding on every play by all teams). The refs also took a chiefs td and int off the board, which were fine calls but if the game was supposedly rigged then those woulda been times to not call holding or dpi.
There were far worse calls in some of the past chiefs bengals matchups that we lost but people arent wanting to have that convo.
Either way tho i actually didnt mind the bengals until all the trash talking from their team and fans this week and all their whining this week when they were clearly outplayed and had so many opportunities, burrow had 3 drives with the ball when it was tied and had two punts and an int. Thats what kt comes down to.

49ers v Eagles reminded me of a plane crash; a dropped catch paid as a catch, which leads to 7, created a series of events which were the downfall of the passengers(49ers) in that because of the pilot error(NFL), said series of events were otherwise avoidable if the "catch" is called correctlly.

Chiefs fans have felt that way for quite a few games this year (Cheffers). Cincy fans thought they were the "big dogs" of the AFC and then found out they weren't, after all the trash talk, and don't know how to handle it. They're embarrassing themselves today.
