    That would look great in the window with small white lights. Thank you, another lovely one to make. My Willow cuttings took this year so perhaps there will be a harvest next year.

    I haven't done it for a willow star before, but it's very common to be a next project that I would like to have a go with it.

    love this. I wish you would do more longer videos on weaving techniques from basic to more advanced. I have coppiced a few willow trees but I'm not sure if they are suitable for weaving with.

    I always love your videos. Your vibe is so wonderful and relaxing, and I always learn so much. Do you have any tips on acquiring good weaving willow in Northern California? I have yet to find a good source, and have relied on tree cuttings I get for myself from neighborhood trees. Thanks!

      Hi Hanna,thank you for your lovely comments.I would recommend American Green as it is one of the best producing willows in the USA.
      It has a tendency to hold its shape, and the wood is a brilliant white and very flexible. This willow grows best on fairly rich soils having a high degree of moisture, but will also grow on sandy situations, provided the water table is near the surface. The soil should not be too rich, for, while the rod produced is thicker and taller, the pith is much larger on account of the rapid growth, thus making the willow softer.

    Hello , I want to have a go at this ! It is beautiful ! One question - When you finish weaving do you take the willow cone tree off the wooden base ?

    I’d love to know how you calculate the holes for the base. Is it based on any certain measurements?

    • @BigGreenArt
      @BigGreenArt  Před 3 lety +1

      I market out 12 holes like the face of a clock and then made the holes between the spaces slightly smaller to get 13 holes. It's not exact so make sure you mark 13 holes first.
