You act like it doesn’t still happen. The U.S has the highest incarceration rate in the world. Many prisons still keep people in extreme conditions chaining them hand feet and belly chains , Forced to exercise in a space no larger than a closet. Hundreds of people are proven innocent after spending years incarcerated. China has Re-education camps for some of its Muslim population. However people pretend it doesn’t happen and have more sympathy for animals than human beings.

We had a meeting in Kodagu regarding human / animal conflicts with forest officials. We were told there's no possibility of capturing wild elephants as all elephant camps are full. I suggested to relocate them to other well developed forests where there's no elephants and let them free. It should be noted elephants roamed these forests once upon a time. Sadly, our policy makers cannot do that. "We don't have the provision for it," was the pathetic reply. 16% of our GDP has been allocated for forests. They have funds to capture, torment and enslave a poor animal.
STOP THIS ILL-TREATMENT OF ANIMALS. JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE OFFICIALS IT DOESN'T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO DO THIS. THERE ARE ALTERNATIVES.

@Navneet Patil. What you see in the video is not natural glimpse. It's the inhumane way that elephants are mistreated by us humans. We have shrunk their habitat to 16% of the total land area in India. Now we capture them, torture them, claiming to tame them. After subjecting them through all this we crib and Harp about man and human conflict but the animals pay the price. Use other alternatives. Relocate them to other forests where there's no elephants. Let them live free, not a life of enslavement.

Hi Babita, let me shed some light on what's happening in Kodagu in Karnataka. There's a human animal conflict going on since the past few decades. Planters here initially didn't mind a one off elephant coming into the estates. Now it's increased multifolds and many human lives have been lost. Our forest officials had commercialised the forest land by growing teak and sandalwood trees. Vagrants set fire to the forests, lack of drinking water, all these issues led to scarcity of food and water for animals in the forest. On paper lots of funds have been allocated for mitigating these issues. However whats on paper has not been executed on land. You know what I mean.
So our erstwhile officials decided to capture the troublesome elephants and tame them to be used in elephant camps so that our tourists can enjoy and the department can monetarily benefit in the name of taking care of the animals. Now elephant camps are full and the wild herd has increased and more troublesome elephants are out.
We Planters and agriculturists love the animals and do not harm them. This led to mass damage of crops that may lead to many facing bankruptcy.
Our suggestion to avoid animals being kept in captivity incurring high costs of maintenance for the government was to relocate them to other forests by moving the entire herd usually 15 - 20 of them. Earlier those forests had elephants which were hunted down during the British era. However, the officials say they do not have the funds to relocate them. We questioned them if they had funds to capture the elephants train them for months and look after them for the rest of their lives, can't they use the same funds to relocate them and let them live their free life.
Talks have been going on for ages but to no avail. Currently they are spending crores to build a barricade between forest lands and plantations using old rails from the railways.
