At a card show in Michigan, probably in 1991 or 1992, my Dad bought my brother and I a wax box of these, I believe for like $5 (or less). We pulled a Stanley Cup Hologram in one of the first few packs. I remember even in the mid to late 90's the card being worth $500 or so. It's still in the family and my brother and I agreed to pass it down to his son, who is now 10. Hopefully he gets the enjoyment out of it that we did. RiP Dad

My friend has the #1 Stanley cup hologram I seen with my own eyes clean no creases and static new, a whole page of Stanley cup hologram but I was only looking at the #1

My wife just bought 6 random packs of cards at a flea market, today, and 1 pack was the Pro Set 1990... and we pulled 967/5000 hologram card!! lol :)

Just after the set came out efforts were taken/metal detector,x ray . To find these hologram gems. That's why there cheap let alone over production
I remember when these cards were first released. I was so excited! I bought so many packs and loved collecting them. Little did I know they are the pinnacle of junk.
I've got a box sitting next to me. Now that I know there is a chase card I might have to open it.

Love this retro stuff! Really brings back memories when I purchased these as a kid! Such a good price point for so many cards! Definitely worth a shot for the Stanley Cup hologram card!
Yes! Just had to get situated with the world the way it currently is! But set up pretty good now. Have to figure out if I can get my hobby shop to get me some boxes somehow now that they’re shut down for the time being... we’ll see! Still sitting on your mail. May open it next week!

I was 17 when I pulled a Stanley Cup hologram card from a PRO SET pack, then I offered it to the card shoppee for $200 and a glance at his wife's puppies, I went home with $400 and a chubby

I had 10 packs of these that I opened a couple of months back. Full of error cards plus some lovely stuff like Gretzky, Roy and Messier.
Memories, thanks for that. Also, any1 else noticed pattern of cards - all star game card(s), buffalo sabres card, discount card, almost in every pack, by the end of it.
Yes I got one up here in Toronto, but have hung on to it for 30 yrs and maybe 10 more, truly the only great card in the set.
I just found a box for 10 bucks... I didn't find one, but I did get the error of the NORDIQUE guy with BLOOD on him

The Bourques are both error cards. Bourque is misspelled on the front (later corrected). I remember there were so many errors in that set, and people making a fuss over them back in the day.
Proset definitely left an impact on the hobby. Bringing in the junk wax era is certainly one of the many knocks against them. However one could argue the Stanley Cup hologram was the very first "chase card" ever in hockey cards, first serial numbered card as well?

A lot of childhood memories in this video. I have such a hard time accepting that these pro set cards didn’t increase very much in value lol
A little less than one Stanley Cup hologram was found in 20 boxes on average. There were 36 packs in each box and 15 cards in each packs. There were 5,000 hologram Stanley Cups. That means there were 5,000X36X15X20 = 54,000,000 cards produced. So to pull a Stanley Cup hologram the odds are 5,000/54,000,000 = 0.00009259. or 0.0009259%. You have to be extremely lucky.
I mean… it’s 1:21 boxes basically.

I pulled a Stanley Cup hologram card in the first few days that pro set was released. I didn't like the card immediately so I traded it for an 86-87 opc set with a mint Patrick Roy rookie in it.

What's the Modano worth? I got it at 75 cents US
Your Ray Bourque cards in this video were both spelling error cards that were later corrected. Bourque is the correct spelling, while early cards said Borque. They're collectable.
