Seeing "today" and "2008" as the same thing just hurts, man. 13 years ago. Damn.
If you don't know what's going on I'll explain. Sound engineers started making the loud parts quieter and the quieter parts louder so that everything is equal volume. Once everything is equallly balanced they turn everything up to make the song "louder". In reality different instruments should be at different volumes as they naturally would be in real life.
This video was released 13 years ago but the point he makes is somehow even more true today. Barely anything you hear on the radio now isn't compressed to god damn Narnia and back
