They were macarons sure, but the color was off, the shape was off, the size was off, the feel were non existent, and a few other things I'm not remembering. Making a macaron isn't hard, but making a bunch of almost perfect ones it where it gets tricky.

I am a baking student and literally that's what I've been saying!! Baking is as easy as following a recipe and knowing what the words mean, and while it takes time and practice to master it it's definitely not hard to pick up
The thing that makes a traditional baked Alaska hard is lighting the meringue on fire. And traditionally that’s done by flambé-ing it, not torching it. I think when people were challenging you to make it, that was 90% of the challenge. Otherwise yes, anyone can use a torch

I think it's really impressive what you're doing. It does feel like you took a few shortcuts. The final product needs to go in the oven for a few minutes, not get torched, which is arguably the more easy route. The merengue was underwhipped as far as I could see. Also i feel like the proportions of merengue to icecream were off. Baking itself isnt that hard but baking well is different in my opinion.

I love baking and I'm glad you're exposing how easy it really is. I constantly hear people talk about how hard it is, but I think it's because they've never really tried.
That isnt even hard to do though. Things that are quite hard to do though are for example sugar work (so making scupltures and decorations out of sugar) , things that are very precise in temperature like macarons or souflé , things that need to be really airy like eclairs ect. A 3 layer cake is just that 3 cakes stacked on top of eachother so really if you can make 1 cake you can make a 3 stack no problem. Also icing really isnt all that hard either its just like writing but easier as my hand writing looks awfull but my icing doesnt.
Croissants are freaking impossible and are a heck of a challenge to get right - the butter is either too soft and leaks out or too cold and breaks up which leaves you disappointed and discouraged.

You used french meringue which is raw egg whites, torching it won't cook it properly since some of it was insulated by the ice cream. You should've used either italian or swiss meringue for this since both involves heating, which heats the eggwhites to safe temperature.

Bro took the easy route with the torch and totally skipped the hard part 😭 To me baking is easy as following a recipe, but temperature control on something u can’t see can be very difficult (like in a BAKED Alaska). This is also true when using extremely older recipes and you have to figure out things on the fly bc certain conditions back then were different like ovens running cooler.

Not really bc he took the easy way out. The whole point of a baked Alaska is to…bake it, the meringue acts as insulation to keep the ice cream from melting, you just have to bake it at the right temp and time. Instead he used a blow torch

I am a baking student and literally that's what I've been saying!! Baking is as easy as following a recipe and knowing what the words mean, and while it takes time and practice to master it it's definitely not hard to pick up

I think it's really impressive what you're doing. It does feel like you took a few shortcuts. The final product needs to go in the oven for a few minutes, not get torched, which is arguably the more easy route. The merengue was underwhipped as far as I could see. Also i feel like the proportions of merengue to icecream were off. Baking itself isnt that hard but baking well is different in my opinion.

That isnt even hard to do though.
Things that are quite hard to do though are for example sugar work (so making scupltures and decorations out of sugar) , things that are very precise in temperature like macarons or souflé , things that need to be really airy like eclairs ect.
A 3 layer cake is just that 3 cakes stacked on top of eachother so really if you can make 1 cake you can make a 3 stack no problem.
Also icing really isnt all that hard either its just like writing but easier as my hand writing looks awfull but my icing doesnt.
And decorate it well detailed in 30 minutes

You used french meringue which is raw egg whites, torching it won't cook it properly since some of it was insulated by the ice cream. You should've used either italian or swiss meringue for this since both involves heating, which heats the eggwhites to safe temperature.

Bro took the easy route with the torch and totally skipped the hard part 😭 To me baking is easy as following a recipe, but temperature control on something u can’t see can be very difficult (like in a BAKED Alaska). This is also true when using extremely older recipes and you have to figure out things on the fly bc certain conditions back then were different like ovens running cooler.
