Liking the basement branding 👍
This can not get better, now that is four of you.
Francis, James, Lawrence and whisky.
Keep safe guys.
So happy that you mentioned how wonderful the Vietnamese people have been to you. I’ve worked with (and made friends with) so many of them and they’re the warmest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. They have every right to hold a grudge against Americans, yet they shower us with love instead. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. Ride safe over there!
A local Sugar drink alternative- Mìa Dà, which is sugar cane juice.
Try it instead of a coke, add a little salt for electrolytes & you’ve got a sports drink.
James cycling with the other half of that whisky 🥃? Ha
Everything in hochiminh city is very cheap and if u ride at 5 am on Phạm Văn Đồng street u will meets a lot of road bike team
When I cycled through Vietnam ( roughly from Hanoi to Saigon - 2300 km) there were 80% bicycles, 10% motorbikes, 5% cars and 5% trucks.
Good tip of the day - leave cities between 0500 and 0600 AM before the morning traffic becomes heavy, and the air chocked with toxic fumes. Bad tip of the day - motor pacing at 55 km per hour behind a lorry on an expressway just for the fun of surprizing the locals. Gosh that was a busy day on the saddle, and this is only the start. Best of luck lads!
It is going to be interesting to watch what Francis films vs what Lawrence films
Traffic was straight bonkers !
Crazy adventure
That Albion Kit is 💯 also having traveled around Vietnam many moons ago, I still miss drinking beer on the street while sitting in those tiny red plastic chairs.
Those roads bringing back great memories! And Vietnamese people ARE the best!
Same for me too.. stayed in hcmc for 3 years previously. .. loved every moment there...😊
Saw James's tweet before starting to watch this... 30 second in, WOW !! He wasn't kidding. Makes London look organised.
*edit*
Just finished watching. Now that was a day from hell, hope it all gets a lot better from here on in. Bonus with the people being so lovely.
Great to see you guys take care of each other so well on those crazy roads - cheers
Brilliant video as always, looking forward to the rest of your adventure. James is just a legend.
This trip looks like being a total challenge at many levels... Happy & Safe travels, guys!
Love your Vietnam biking series, you guys alway cracked me, thanks for a great video.
Love this! Went to Thailand a couple of years ago and this brings me back. Post more about the foods you guys are eating as well!! Keep up the good work and good luck on the trip!
The quality of this series is outrageously good

Looks awesome so far! Safe travels!
You had me at “The Basement Presents” 😂 fantastic as always but that traffic is mad! 👍
I'm flying into hanoi next week and heading to Saigon! Thx for the videos! Very helpful. Cheers
Love you guys(long time)
Nice - an adventure with adventurous stuff happening... :) Looking forward to seeing how this goes... !
Oh my, this trip is going to be heavy on adventure. The Three Amigos making it happen!
Great video, well done avoiding the traffic, it looks hetic!
....nice one lads.....drafting heavan !! stay safe. Can't wait for the next vid... thanks
Keep up the great videos - it sure is interesting place, you never know what each day has installed for you 3 that's for sure!
Yeah you guys are gonna want to avoid the late afternoon rain! 4-6pm plan to do something else... hopefully already land at your destination! Loving James' bottle lashed to the tailfin, good man.
Manic traffic wtf! Great start to the series. 👍🚴😀
And the real adventure begins!
Finally there, loving it from day one. Safe journeys. The city is populated like an ant nest and it’s the picture of London in ten years if we keep heading the way we are going
Max Williams except you won't get yummy noodles and cold rolls with beer for a couple of quid then or a 20.
So so much going on it would do my head in trying to get through the traffic etc keep on biking 😆😎👍🇦🇺
More trips....love it
Very refreshing to see cyclists in Vietnam with so many motorcyclists there.
15 yrs in asia and i still love the madness. Road rules are just suggestions, keep calm and smile, only foreigners lose there shit.....enjoy ✌️👍🇵🇭🇳🇿
Another excellent vid mate, makes me think of my years in Thailand. As they say, same same but different. If you're missing some kit or know you'll need some spares and doubt you can find it there. Contact your people in the UK and get them to send it up ahead of you via Fed Ex etc. Make sure it's at least a couple of days ahead so it'll get there before you do.
Cool project
I wonder will LC upload before you, one day, just once!! Maybe if your laptop
goes like your tubeless today 😆 good TV as always FC.
You guys have balls of steel.
Riding on Vietnam street?
Respect. LoL
Just finished pt10. I am living in Hue and so happy to know that you guys love Hue.
Amazing channel with good things and 3 superman 🤣
Mate, this video was so awesome i had to watch it twice! Also, you seem to get flats no matter what you do. I think you should try solid tyres next just to see how you would get them to fail :)
Love watching your adventures keep them coming, what’s the camera strap you guys are using??
It is just a adjustment period riding in SE asia. Actually better when you get use to it and faster on a pushbike than local traffic.
Yes! Far OUT! That's my first experience of Hanoi and Saigon.
GREAT VID AS ALWAYS ... WHENS THE RIDE AROUND THE WORLD!!
dope i did this 2017, started in cambodia and bought a little piece of shit bike for like 75 bucks, broke it about halfway from saigon to hanoi and ended up giving it to some kids. Good times, nice to watch you fellas at it such a good country
I've given up already,and I'm only watching it 😂🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️
The Basement Presents? That office is so low, and echos so much, it's more like The Bat Cave!
Maybe, The Bike Cave, hahaha
Make sure to have a mic, on James, biking in a downpour!!!!! Can't wait to hear what he is going to say:)
That OSMO shoots really "pure" video. I've been testing several GoPro 8's, recently and while I love the 8 and will keep one of the testers, that OSMO has me intrigued.
So far, I think it's better than the hero7 I have. Image wise and reliability!
@@Cade_Media Very good to know. From the little I've seen so far, I'd definitely agree with you. The Hero 8's I've been testing are certainly better than the 7's, but based off what I've seen of these videos and digging a bit, I may just keep one and grab an OSMO as well. Thanks for the 411!
keep safe guys.
Ha lads
Have been to Vietnam three times and never had a bad time.
The people just get better when you head south.
Ride safe!
I am watching this after project USA, next trip please go with tubes + tire liner its more practical in this situations with limited support. Do you guys have anything against tire liners, just curious?
Yes ha-long did you guys take the whole ride???
Nice to see James carrying the rest of the scotch
James was carrying ALL of the scotch. Its just only half of it was in the bottle.
Any recommended camera straps for cycling?
The tubeless explosion is karma for the DMs you both sent me when mine did it ...
It's going to get hotter as you go. But the food there is good beyond belief.
Is James fuelling himself with Whiskey all the way, did I see a bottle attached to the back of his bike. Stay safe and ride on 👍
James going nuts about riding there, wait till you try the streets of Metro Manila! :D
Traffic in vietnam the way to get past it (walking or cycling) is make predicable moves and hold your line. Traffic and motos will go around you as long as you dont make sudden movements. Btw if you want vegan food ask them for (do ang chai) or ask for (no thit = no meat) my favorite is banh xeo no thit.....or pan fried coconut crepes. Message me if you need more information mr cade
Best laid plans, n'all.
I have seen the traffic in Bangkok and Jakarta...you guys should try those! Bwahahaha
Wait till you get to Saigon, Hanoi is a breeze traffic wise. Saigon is the second busiest city in the world next to Dhaka (Bangladesh)
Francis, what's the camera strap the boys are using?
🔥
Wow!
Bong hits for everyone
Has james got a bottle of whiskey strapped to his back fin ? Hairofthedog 🤕🤣
yep, you thought riding in London was bad, holy crap that was an experience, how do all the Vietnamese survive that traffic, ride safe!!
Everyone sits down lights the bong smokes the bong then fucks off lmao
next destination.. Indonesia..
You 3 have fun being Bad Ass on 2 wheels.
Holey wheels mk2?
tell James his Hamilton is looking sharp!
It is indeed a brand new NATO strap on a 20 year old khaki auto - my favourite watch
I would like to invite you guys to ride in the Philippines 🇵🇭
You should ride a bike in jakarta...completely chaos..😂😪
am i the only one who noticed the bottle of red label on james's rear pack? 🤔
You're not eating meat Francis? I'm curious to see if your buddies end up having any stomach bugs and if you manage to avoid them. Hectic day! Now that you're out of the thick of it hopefully the next day will go quicker. :D
Nope, well trying to avoid it ... I had some suspect tofu a couple of days ago
Subtle apocalypse now reference?
Should definitely of put a map at the start of each day
James be hard work for a hole week 😢
Number one rule, if they don't, let you keep your bike in your room then you don't stay ... trust me even 5-star hotel will let you ...if you say i cancel and as you seen many hotels everywhere so don't need to book ..try the snake wine
what's the benefit of the aeropack over a conventional saddle bag?
More capacity and ridiculous weight limit! Definitely easier to pack too, it's like a roll top bag
@@Cade_Media Sounds interesting. Is the handling any better since it's attached to the axles? Good video
Go bike packing to Indonesia 😁
As mad as it is its potentially less dangerous than inner London. So many two wheel vehicles makes for more awareness and consideration. Tubeless not much good travelling its only good for commuting imo. A decent knobby tyre a heavy tube filled with slime and thorn liners for me.
Tubeless 😂😂 it's the wonder solution to all problems whilst riding, or it isn't?
Sorry I didn't get that, why do u potentially need to drill a hole in your wheel?
I’m guessing drilling out the valve hole in the rim so they can fit an inner tube with a larger diameter schraderer valve instead of the thinner presta valve? It seems they don’t have a valve extender so maybe resorting to MTB tubes as a workaround?
Guys, We spent a few weeks in Vietnam from Saigon travelling north to Hanoi. Our expat mate told us to forget about the rules of London traffic. Vietnam is far more civilised. Everybody just shares the road. When crossing streets just maintain a steady pace. Don’t wait for gaps. Just walk. Traffic will avoid you. Understand that you are just sharing the space. It’s completely different to our ‘rights’ based traffic system. Same with riding. Don’t do anything too unpredictable and you will be fine. This is why there is no road rage - it is a different mindset. (One caveat - wait for buses. )
