Both good drams. I like both as well. But Ardbeg 10 is a King of Islay and right my alley. For me its a perfect whisky 10 out of 10. No discussion. Funny thing is both expressions at the moment cost almost same money. So for me choice is easy. Cheers 👍😁🥂🙋🏻♂️
Yeah no complaints with that. It’s more than a solid whisky and it’s definitely more of the “quintessential” ardbeg or even islay for that matter. I would imagine it’s the more popular of the two and I can totally see why. Thanks for popping by, cheers 🥃
Thank you for another great review 🤗 As usual, I agree 100% on this too. I also prefer the 5yo if I weigh in all aspects in total of what I like. To me the 10yo is a bit more balanced than the 5yo, but I can definitely loose a bit of balance, to get more of the notes I like. The 5yo does have more to offer in that department. The sweet layers on top of the smoke is wounderful. I also agree on the cookie dough note. It's there for shure. I also get the essence of dark chocolate in the finish. And given tha fact that the 5yo is around £8 pounds cheaper than the 10yo here, makes the 5yo more valuable to me. 😋
I always find that with the heavily peated, younger is better as they are far more aggressive. The same notes of the distillery, but the phenolics are bouncing around with abandon. Unless you have a significant cask finish, which can make an older age statement (if transparent about the casks) interesting.
I totally agree with you, what’s nicer about that as well is that usually when it’s younger, it’s cheaper just as long as it’s not had a fancy cask finish. It’s a little bonus with peated whisky
I love both expressions but after trying one, then the other and going back and forth doing nosings and tastings and comparisons, the Ardbeg Ten is my favourite. But I think mood also has a role to play! Sometimes I just really want the particular smoke I get from the Wee Beestie as I find it a bit different from the peated smoke in the Ardbeg Ten. The Ten can give a punch but the Wee Beastie even more so and sometimes I want that. Young Islays are amazing! In Canada they are almost the same price. Terrific video! I really enjoyed it!! :-)
Thank you and you’re right, it totally does! Oh interesting, in the UK it’s usually a good 20-25% cheaper so I think it’s incredible value for money and also just like mood can change your perception on a whisky, price can too so I can see why you’re favouring the 10 year and switching a little more, thanks for watching and have a wonderful Christmas! 🎄
@@WhiskyWars Hey today I found Wee Beastie on sale and grabbed a couple of bottles at such a low price! Exciting! Thanks for the terrific reply!! Cheers! 🙂

Your descriptions make sense, given that Ralfy favours these over so many others. I’ve subscribed
Thank you. I appreciate it
Interesting comparison. I'd always written off the wee beastie as too young/fiesty but might be worth a revisit. Cheers
Thank you and you totally should!
Good comparison
Cheers, I appreciate it 🥃
