- Okay I know there will be two extreme sides to this question but does David Coronswet look too much like Henry Cavill? A new photo of David Coronswet has been released and people are mistaking him for Henry Cavill. Now I’m going to be completely honest I did too. When I first saw this photo I thought I was looking at Henry Cavill until I saw the caption and half of social media agrees and the other half doesn’t. So today let’s talk about it.

It was a great run, but the Snyderverse is done. Let's all move on and hope for the best. Also, judging by Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon, Snyder is slipping a bit. Not visually necessarily, but story and editing is not up to par. There was a bit of that in ZSJL too. He thinks if the movie is super long, it's good. NOT always Zack. Just my opinion.
Synder can't tell a decent story to save his life... Man of Steel was ok because of Goyer and Nolan's influence..once they left we got "Maaaaatha". Give that man a rest from directing. Rebel Moon is enough
David Corenswet is more like a younger brother of Henry Cavil. Despite of it still I'm rooting for Cavil to continue the character as Superman. Unfortunately, like any other things there's no constant in this world but changes. Looking forward for Corenswet to do the character and hope he could give justice to the character as what Henry did before as Superman. Good Luck!

When Brandon Routh first walked on to the plane after stopping it from crashing, for a second you really are taken aback by the similarities to Reeves.
David looks like Henry, this casting was 100% based on that fact, it means Cavill was such an amazing Superman, it does feel kind of like a banckhanded compliment in ways.

The problem was not Cavill having 40yo. The problem was Gunn coming to create his selfish Superman story that no one want based on a Superman different than what we demanded for years. Robert Downey Jr was 48 by the time of the first Ironman film and he did 3 IronMan movies plus 5 Avengers including CivilWar in 10 years. Marvel casted a very young TomHolland for Spiderman, but the movie that broke the BoxOffice was the one that brough back "old" Spidermen.

It just goes to show that the casting for Superman over the years has been virtually on-point. To the credit of casting directors and filmmakers, they’ve always gotten the right actors for their respective projects.

Of course, Gunn can capitalize on the Cavill image, at a huge discount with the much cheaper version. Gunn's been going the budget route for a while now- make decent films for a considerably lower cost, which is likely what put him above the Rock for head of DC for the WB overlords when people were vying for the position.

David looks like what was promised. A younger looking Superman. True Gunn went with the same look as Henry but he does go younger. It's unfortunate what happened with Cavill. Between studio interference and the direction he was givin for the character by Snyder but the time has come to move on.

Well, time to re-watch Man of Steel. I love that movie. I remember when Clark was hitchhiking I thought, "has he lost his Powers?" But the whole trucking theme was a hommage to Superman II. At some point every Superman has to wear a red jacket and hitchhike.
Sharing common features with Superman isn't a good argument to say their likeness isn't on purpose. Cavill doesn't look like Brandon Rought, and Christopher Reeves doesn't look like the SUperman of the comics. Dirty Gunn wants to get distance from Snyder/Cavill's Superman to build his own thing, but he's not willing to lose Snyder/Cavill's massive audience. That's hypocrite.

A lot of people have said that, but I don't think Cornswet looks like Cavill at all. They have some similarities, but that doesn't make them twins! He might pass as Cavill's brother at best. Brothers can have similarities but still be very distinct from each other in appearance.
As for Cavill looking like Reeve when he's about to destroy the world machine in Man of Steel, Zack Snyder did superimpose Reeve's likeness on Cavill's face for a brief moment there. Fact. You can look that stuff up. -OG

Not at all and only for this simple reason: I've never seen Cavill laugh or even smile while Corenswet has been seen several times laugh and smile plus he's taller than Cavill, as it's supposed to be.

I'd like to correct you on something you said earlier pertaining to why the reboot needed to happen, and it would be a disservice to Cavill to try and continue his story arc with another character. You said erasing Cavill's history from MOS to ZSJL to start again from on origin story would be a disservice to cavill playing the character for so long, and that it would be like Snyder coming in and rebooting Bale's Dark knight and Dark knight Rises. So let me correct you on the difference. Christopher Nolan Intentionally told 3 stories, to end with TDKR. Nolan's story is COMPLETED. and I want you to focus on that word COMPLETED. as it is a very important word in this context. When they fired Gunn from Marvel because of his tweets, Gunn fans far and wide set Twitter on fire, and Roasted Disney until they brought back Gunn to, here comes that word again, COMPLETE, his GOTG/Peter Quill Story arc. Guess what? Disney hires him back, even after all that.
The Point is this, Nolan was able to tell the story he wanted to tell. Gunn, even after they fired him from Marvel, was STILL able to come back and complete his GOTG arc. Guess whose 5 film, Superman/Darkseid arc isn't finished yet? Zack Snyder. So those comparisons are a non starter my friend.
You've missed the point. Erasing Cavill's past to start again would be a disservice to Cavill & Snyder's portrayal. Sure Bale's story was complete but that was never the point I was making. The point was that Bale had 3 movies in it's own universe and for Snyder to use the same actor for his new universe and erasing Bale's story would be a bad move. So the same goes for Gunn using Cavill in his rebooted DCU. It just wouldn't be a good idea. It's not about finishing a storyline, that was never the point I was making. I could take Iron Man's 3 films and say the same thing and the point still stands. It's not about specifically what happens in those movies, it's the fact that Gunn using an actor and a character from the previous cinematic universe and then erasing that character's past films to retell them would be a bad move and a disservice to that storyline.

I am more sad about losing the stories we should have got with Cavill. Cavill was the first TRUE superman after Routh, as a grounded, believable character and my god his absolute bonkers tank-body especially with the beard in the garden grabbing some clothes of a dry line, was legendary.
Cavill also portrayed a very likeable, charismatic Superman.
Also, we got treated to the best candy ever : a Batman V Superman story. And it was with nobody other than Ben Affleck whom portrayed an absolutely bonkers good Batman. The combination WORKED. And we got emotionally attached to Cavill after he died in BvS then got back in JL.
It also would not have been so much of an issue if Flash happened earlier with Cavill, and if Black Adam also happened earlier. I get the pandemic, but in the end, the Cavill cameo in Black Adam should not have happened.
That said, i am not at all against Corenswet as a new Superman, i just hope the material will be good. I think David is doing a good job on bulking up, i was very impressed with that and i hope he truly keeps bulking up even further to be absolutely gigantic. I am also not at all against Lois lane casting. I'm really glad she is a believable one imho. I just hope that the casting of a new DCU Batman (as Pattison won't) will be done right.
I don't know who would be right though - Jensen Ackles, no, please no. Neither would the Jack Reacher actor be right.
They CAN do a future 'reboot' with a proper BVS movie, like in the books, but it has to be different to the actual BVS of Cavill/Affleck - which was fantastic. But in order to do that, there must be an established Superman and an established Batman and i don't see how that is going to happen.
You never know though, i do think that if they do it right, if 'The Batman 2' is any good - and i'm sure it will - then by 'The Batman 3' Pattison can bulk up. He'd be of a proper age too to be up 'against' Corenswet' Superman.
They would still have to make a more grounded Corenswet Supes.
What i personally hated was the 'ancient religion' mix in the DCEU with 'gods' and stuff like that. I also hated what they did to martian manhunter. the look itself also was hideous so i do get Gunn rebooting the whole thing.
I am truly hoping that they'll exclude Batman from the upcoming Superman movie. they might mention him - like on tv, claiming he is just a myth, a symbol.
I hope Reeves also will wait with a proper Joker for 'The Batman 3' and that it's not the freaky looking one we saw in the deleted scenes.

I have no doubt David will make an enjoyable Superman, but I have to be honest. With the way Henry Cavill's Superman was treated, I'm never going to be okay with a Superman other than Cavill until his story is completely finished. As a writer and storyteller, the one thing I hate the most is an unfinished story. Superman's story stands unfinished because of the choices of WB, David Zaslav, and I apologize to say that James Gunn had a hand in it, too. I respect James Gunn as a filmmaker, but as the creative head of DC films, I share no enthusiasm for his DCU unless Superman Legacy surprises me, which I'm not very confident will happen. At this point, all I can keep doing is promoting #RestoreTheSnyderverse. Because that's the only hope I see for DC movies until something changes.

I disagree that changing the Superman score in black Adam is nitpicking. That version of the score is from the Reeve version of Superman. Cavill had his own score of a Superman theme. Using the Reeve score was pandering and confusing.

You're kidding right? This isn't about the look of superman. This isn't about the aesthetics of the situation. They had Nick Cage as superman.... the issue isn't about who looks like superman.
The issue is how and why they removed Henry from the role.
They can't call this a reboot and keep some of the same characters, this is where bad writing starts. This is the first red flag. This is a prequel, which also has bad implications, the success of prequels is less than optimistic at best.
Your point about "He's not a young superman anymore" are you talking about Henry or Kal El? because "superman" ages so slowly he may as well be immortal. So unless your saying that Henry is not young anymore? Hugh Jackman pretended to be younger than he was for a long time before his age started to show and they had to make the Old Logan version of the character.

And James Gunn dug his own hole, however the audience has little to no say in how things happen. Gunn is another red flag in the eyes of most of the audience. Gunn needs to listen to the nit picking. Not all of it, not most of it, but those nit pickers are the true fans of the content who will probably make content on social media that will either encourage or discourage others from seeing the movie. This isn't amateur hour, these are beloved, established, top tier heros and stories... these things should be taken seriously with attention to detail. Every successful movie had attention to detail, sometimes that make people happily re-watch the movies just to see if there was anything they missed. So Gunn needs to pull his socks up and have a spoon full of concrete. He's a damn sook that seems to be forgetting the reason he is making movies, because it shouldn't be for him or the studio.
So you concede that Henry can still play the part with some de aging help.... your following point about him wanting longevity then seems a trivial reason for him to not keep Cavil, considering that Gunn himself isn't guaranteed to stick around that long. You're saying that 10 years down the line we won't run into the current events of these movies? So why is a new actor needed? Or is this a different timeline? A reboot? a... reimagining?

Snyder was castrated by the company... not the audience. Gunn wants to tell a story that the audience didn't ask for, not the company. So you attempting to call people hypocritical isn't valid.
OK, most of the way through the video and I can't see things making any more sense. So yes.... the fact that he looks too much like Henry should be an issue. You sound like your trying to please both sides of the argument at the beginning then you start calling people who have an opinion about the movie that isn't the same as your opinion hypocrites towards the end. I'm not sure what the message of this video was but it looks like you are half backing the project and half apprehensive about it.
Listening to all sides of an issue can only improve your understanding of the issue. You sound like you don't want to listen to the other side. You can see their point isn't the same as your own but because you then express an opinion of those people later in the video you are showing that you don't really care about the other side of the argument.

No! Not all Caucasians look alike! These men were cast to play the same character. They should have similar features with each other and previous actors who played Kal El. But, I would not ever mistake one for the other though. They are in the same police lineup, but look different.

They don't look that similar to me if I'm honest. David looks, for lack of better word, pretty. Proportions look different too and he has a great voice. I think when he dons the suit people will see him in a different light.

A win win scenario, is let Gunn do his DCU, and let Zack Snyder conclude his - three films. Batfleck, ZSJL2 and 3. Or do them as three TV series. And release the Ayer Cut. I'm not a nitpicker, but I hated that they used Reeve's theme for Cavill in Black Adam. How would Christopher Reeve gatekeeper fans feel if they used an older Superman theme for his camo in The Flash, etc. I don't know how well Gunn's DCU will do to be honest. Audiences are already tired of the genre, and the shared universe concept.
the new D.C has the original hero's with origin stories so I rhinknthry need to focus more on making the young justice characters and movies fallowing the animated series that we all liked.

I strongly disagree. Nobody asked for James Gunn's tone deaf reboot. That's not the answer. We wanted a conclusion to the Snyderverse and we will accept nothing less. If James Gunn wants to be able to tell his stories and finish them, then he should give Snyder the same courtesy. They had Cavil sitting on the sideline for 5 years. They could have made billions with him as Superman in more films. WB has made way too many mistakes and broken too many promises to keep my support. I hope they sell DC to Universal, I hope Superman Legacy fails, and I hope James Gunn gets fired.

I enjoyed the DCEU, but they really didn't delve into the truest legacies of the characters, with the exception possibly being Wonder Woman's origin being close. That movie franchise did suffer from a lack of consistency.
The new DCU stories will be unburdened by typical origin stories, because the origins are so well known, and basically the DCEU was composed of mostly origin stories, and a few sequels. There are some connections that will continue, such as Amanda Waller, and perhaps Peacemaker, played by the DCEU actors, that I will be able to consider the new movies another corner of DC's multiverse. Corenswet does look and act more like Clark than Henry Cavell did. I might add, Corenswet has straight teeth, unlike Cavell's jacked up bottom grill. Superman, a superb being, would have perfect teeth.
