I love how he's still saying "po" kay Ka-Tunying every now and then during the interview kahit sobrang successful niya na and ng family niya. It just shows what kind of upbringing their parents did to the Gokongwei children. ✨

They are down to earth person I have a brother holding a high position who stays in the company for almost 40 yrs plus he started working since 1977starting from lowest position until he became a manager
Until now he is with the company for 47 yrs
Mr Gokongwei also told me several times--to be prudent with expenses--to make it a habit to save money.
He's a very humble person. Walang ka ere ere magsalita.
Pareho sila ni RSA na very humble, kind and compassionate. Naturingang mga bilyonaryo sila pero pagkasisipag which should be the most important trait of a billionaire. I admire him too like RSA.

Thank you for sharing the interview. I used to work for his Dad (Mr John Gokongwei). Such a great man, he treats his employees well. @ least Mr Lance share his experience visiting the office every Saturday. It was a good company to start lalo na pag fresh graduate ka. All of us in the department are newly grad & Mr John always visit each department. Good memories.
Barat daw pasahod, kaya d nag apply anak ko to any gokongwei own company. Dami intsik barat, alaska, also and asia brewery. Good thing nkapasok san miguel, medyo ok salary, as compared to above mentioned. Good employer shld start sharing blessings to employees. Thats the best way to help improve economy. I used to work directly under Mr. John Gokongwei. I heard it from Mr. John himself: " If you don't work you don't eat." Simple lang talaga sila. Even in his clothes, he was not flashy. ---Isang beses, yung tennis shoes nya , pinagmamayabang pa nya sa akin---that he bought it sa bargain sale--yung nakalagay sa box at mamili ka ng gusto mo. His wife and children--napaka-simple talaga. Never ko nakita yang wife and daughters nya nag-susuot ng malalaking diamonds or expensive jewelry kahit sa birthday party ni Mr. John. When Mr. John died, I went to his wake sa Heritage. I wanted to laugh--kasi inside his kabaong was a big party pack of Chippy!!! I was at the back of Mrs. Gokongwei (who was dressed very simply) and I noted that the clip on her hair, was plain plastic---I think less than 50 pesos yun.(She died before he was buried.) I also noticed that the Americana na suot ni Mr James Go (brother of Mr. John)--looked very old. I greatly admire their simplicity.
