In order to be eligible for appointment as an associate judge, a person must meet the requirements and qualifications to serve as a judge of the court for which the associate judge is to be appointed. For example, to be eligible for appointment as a district court judge in Texas, you must be a citizen of the United States, a citizen of Texas, at least 25 years old, a resident of the district for 2 years, and a practicing lawyer or judge for 4 years.

If you don't have a passion for a specific area of being a lawyer, and/or chance at getting into one of the top tier law schools, don't think about becoming a lawyer. It is oversaturated currently, and even people graduating from the top colleges and law schools have a hard time finding jobs. Don't think about the money when you become a lawyer, most are in the upper areas of middle class, but being a lawyer affects almost every aspect of your life so it might not be worth it for some. What's the use of being able to afford all the streaming services you want if you don't have time to watch anything? If you want to make money, be a MD or something. Saving lives is always in demand and will always earn money (although I've heard of many similar aspects of becoming a doctor to a lawyer). Don't treat my advice like it's coming from a successful person, get counsel from your family members, friends, law students and lawyers

Wish maybe you guys would discuss the pros and cons of electing judges versus having retention elections. And also, most importantly, discuss the pros and cons of states where even the state Supreme Court justices are elected and run for reelection against another person. It just seems so crazy to me. I don’t trust voters. I don’t feel like voters are very intelligent. And that’s especially true when it’s about judges because how do you know what to judge them off of? A judge isn’t supposed to say that they’re gonna specifically do XY or Z, there’s supposed to be good judges who are willing to make the hard decisions even if it’s unpopular on a specific case.

Yes, the defendant was ignorant and should have been more aware of his actions😂. However, tickets are fines, not criminal, and the judge shouldn't be practicing law from the bench, rule 3.10... In addition, it is to my belief that bringing new evidence into the record and punishing him for it is up to the prosecution to raise. Apart from this case, this judge has a superiority complex, and the people are beneath him. The way that he speaks to and treats people is not honorable as a public servant.
