- Yes the Beaufighter really does have that much ammo, think of a minivan stuffed full of ammo, thats what this is. Also, the cannons can be reloaded several times in-flight. As you can see the landing gear and the flaps weren't cooperating at landing.

In 1942, Charles Crombie single handedly attacked a squadron of Japanese Betty bombers over Calcutta. One of his wing tanks caught fire so he ordered his observer to bail out while he continued pressing the attacks. He shot down 3 and scored 2 more probables before his wing fuel tanks exploded.
good effort
@@FroggyFrog9000 He was flying an Australian built beaufighter armed with 4 x 20mm hispanos and 4 x 0.5" browning MG. He died 2 weeks after the war ended in a training accident. He was one of 5 men in that generation who were lost to the Crombie family in Queensland. It was a heavy price that family paid.
When the Japanese started terror bombing Calcutta, over one million people fled the city. Stopping those attacks was imperitive.
One of the most useful (and underrated) aircraft of WW2. Not the fastest or most manoeuvrable aircraft around, but if you were unlucky enough to end up in the gunsight of those formidable cannon...
Agree. The Mossie and the Beaufighter are both wonderful aircraft. The Beau, the ten gun terror. Whispering Death. A vastly underrated fighter.
SERIOUSLY ! The Beau carried 60 rounds per gun fitted, and a spare drum for each gun. Not only did this give a total of 120rpg, but a loaded drum weighed some 80lb (just shy of 40Kg) and had to be hand-loaded in flight by the navigator. Unsurprisingly, this was replaced by a 120 round belt feed as soon as they became available.
I Like how the 110s just fly straight through your stream of .303 like it's nothing...
Love the Beaufighter, but those Bf110s had plenty of forward-firing armament, and would have had at least a chance to dogfight against the Beau if they had tried. Too bad for them they didn't.
With respect, the Bf110s performance was seriously inferior to the Beaufighter just as they were also outclalled by the bSpitefires, Hurricanes and Mosquitos of the RAF. As a day gighter, by 1940 the Bf110s were obsolete. They did convert though, into a dangerous night fighter as the painting on my website "the Loss of Halifax DK170", a true incident, shows.
I really hope they bring the Beaufighter to the Great Battles series.
Yeh me too, great aircraft.
The Flying Bulldog.
Bristol Beaufighter very slowly takes out 6 A.I. controlled Messerschmitt Bf110C-7s as they fly in almost straight lines IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover (PS the video is actually awesome though)
Very clever thanks
remarkable amount of ammo
Hey Frog... watched it again... edge of my seat...
Do you recall your airspeed at the top of some of those loops?
cheers
thanks man, nah but with such a big plane better to be fast at the top of loops
Bristol beaufighters caused havoc for the Germans and Japanese during ww2, the plane was well armed with guns bombs and rockets
Brett Lloyd
The more I research about this plane, the more I think it’s been underrated and lost in time, I know the mosquitoes were excellent planes but surly this is comparable to that as (British planes go )
Ie the spitfire and hurricane.
They go hand in hand, also did the brits use these a great deal or did the (commonwealth)? Use them to a better extent.
They did seem to wreck..... up
I only usually watch real footage and documentaries of planes of the times but these games really gives you a whole different view.
Bit hooked now.
My da ,RIP ,joined the RAF from the Republic of Ireland, during ww2, and was a military Policeman guarding these fearsome planes in Egypt,Libya and Malta....the Australian air force used them to great effect against Japanese shipping...best wishes from the wirral...E
@Bob Malack, I thought maybe the trails were condensation trails at the tips of the wings and aerial - though I may be mistaken. In any case, the Beaufighter apparently had a prodigious flight envelope.
A good day at the office.
There is really good doco on the B ' Fighter called BeauFighter Whispering Death
Cool :)
The 110 pilots didn't know where their gun buttons were... no Iron Crosses won in this "action"...
Beau-DACIOUS! ;-)
if they had been highly experienced me 110 pilots they would have gone into a defensive circle each covering the others tail, tho the beaufighters better speed meant they would still have advantage
A fabulous but under-rated aircraft, one point though, the pilot's seat had a tendency to suddenly collapse, which could prove lethal on landing / take-off
Hey Frogman......great flying great shooting........Jerry got to take a swim.......the hard way...LOL
Cheers, Beaufighter does pack a mighty punch
@@FroggyFrog9000 The Beaufighter.....the Beaufort....the Mosquito....The Hornet....The Meteor.....the Vampire...the Spitfire.The Hurricane.......the Gladiator.....the Lancaster....the Stirling...so many and lives that went along....and all the newer ones......the Electric....The Harrier.......Ad-more to the list......The first jet engine....courtesy ENGLAND.........!
What a nice bird, I never really gave this aircraft much thought or respect. I'm going to go read about its entire operational history now. Lol.
It's a damn extraordinary operational history too! One of the most overlooked aircraft of the second world war, yet it fought in so many roles on so many fronts.... the true workhorse of the RAF etc.
She was a BEAST!! The A-10 of her day many a Bosch did it kill.
At least [She] Bristol BeauFighter made it back even though the flaps and undercarriage were knocked out..........
The secret fighter of WW2....
What's the function of the crewman in the top bubble? He does not appear to have a gun.
these RAF WW2 planes were starting to get jam-packed with high tech electronics for things like navigation and target detection. Needed a guy to operate all the gadgets.
Is there a provision to manually pump down the gear?
Enjoyed the movie BTW...
Were you losing fuel for quite a while or was that sumpin else?
Thanx and cheers
Jonny Beck yeh those are small fuel leaks, probably is a manual gear extension, not sure at the time though.
You flew over my house.
Ya, leaking fuel trail, after the first 3 'kills' or so I would of headed back to base/Dover, lest you want to swim back in English channel..LOL!!
@Froggy - did you use to fly on WarBirds about 20yrs ago? Handle sounds familiar. Tinman.
Christ, if i happened to be in the unfortunate situation where i was standing at the dangerous end of a rifle range with you at the other, I'd take refuge by standing infront of the target. 😉
🤣😂🤣
Seems strange that they didn't split and attack, just happy to toddle on and get shot down?
it depends how you set the ai
So, the 110 stood no chance against the beaufighter?
The Japanese called it the Whispering death and it did most of the damage to Rommel's Africa Corps supply lines.
Whispering death was the Corsair
@@coryhall7074 They also called the beau that as it's sleeve-valve engines were very quiet on approach and it would catch the Japanese by suprise.
A flying tank...
Awesome video Froggy! i did better job later last night ,needless to say a few beers, and also tried with a hurri and they totally try to run from even that fighter instead of engage . PS when you shoot an enemy wing off you can stop pulling the trigger TEEHEE!
Hey thanks for the great idea :) I did quite a few practice sessions where the 110s actually got some hits, one time i looked out the window and the engine was half missing. lol.
He's a big Arsenal fan.
Whispering Death
Never come in war against England.
You need to get some more target practice in.
In real life 110s would've outrun a Beauf despite only having 1100hp engines. (Beauf. 1650hp.)
Undercarriage lever a bit sticky, was it?
I dont know how to fly anything in CLOD
I want one
Fast Bristol 🤔
they wernt really slow
Dude, you need gunnery practice, have you ever heard of lead?
THATS THE ISLE OF WIGHT NOT THE DOVER STRAITS
Is that cliffs of dover blitz or Cliffs Of Dover
blitz
This must be the Utter Madness of Warthunder. IL-2 Sturmovik over the Cliffs of Dover.....I don't think so. They must issue a choice for single nation battles
blaaaaddy video games
How About A Night Sortie?
They are not fighting back
The ones not firing back are light bombers, not dogfighters.
could beafighter actually manoveure like shown?
Yes, it was highly maneuverable and faster than the Me-110. The 4 20 MM cannon with 480 rounds made it bad news for air, ground, and sea targets.
Just bots?
Not War Thunder otherwise the Beau fighter would have been splintered in the first 30 secs.
sure they had to withdraw the beau from frontline after it suffered big losses against 109
VÍDEO GAMES ??
I guess if you ever was a psycotic killer - just bail ot as a pilot and kill ever1 - full trim and speed max Gforces. makes me wonder......
in reality it was much slower than bf110
Was not
You're thinking of the Bristol Blenheim bomber, they kinda look a little bit similar(ish)... but not really.
Not realistic, bit like the old cowboy movies with the 100 shot revolvers! Plus no fight back. Really?
Long Stretch Of Flying Over Empty Ocean With Out Any Action
Tracer doesn't move in a straight line. If you follow it into the distance the trajectory is curved because of gravity, and when you move the gun, the tracer stream swishes about like a stream of water from a hose. Stories about real Beaufighter victories would be much more interesting than fake victories accomplished by computer simulations.
Spray and pray, my method of shooting down enemy fighters
You shoot worse than I do and I can't shoot. Painful to watch.
verry bad shooter
Fantasy junk
26 minutes of not much happening, boring.
Good graphics spoiled by lamentably poor production; the aircraft jerking around all over the place and endless pictures of sky and sea. To describe the video as boring would be kind.
