Nearly 20 years on from this, and Waverley has had another big overhaul! She still runs!

I loved being on board the Waverley as young fellow in the 1950s.

The main aerial photo was taken in stormy weather on her way to the Isle of Mann. Impressive!

I Sailed on it to Rothesay and back few days ago. Fantastic! For me, who was diesel-ship engineer and son of steamer engineer, especially interesting. Thank you very much!

... and me. The Scots honoured this wonderful vessel in song. She has plied the coast of her native Clyde, North of Ireland and the Severn Sea. It remains etched in the hearts of many

Such paddle steamers are still in regular use in Bangladesh, mostly on riverine routes. Most are over a hundred years old. However, they are not really steamers as most have had their steam engines replaced with diesel marine engines.
