“I discovered an old desktop with, to my surprise, bootlegs of modern apps installed, including one of Roblox, a favorite childhood game. Despite knowing it was this damned plane’s shitty attempt at comforting me so some ungodly creature could feast on my flesh, I was too distracted by the nostalgia. I launched the fake Roblox, called ‘Ro-Lox,’ and was shocked to see that Piggy was one of the playable games, though only Book 1 was available, but I really didn’t care at that point; it was something that made me feel at home in a place so foreign yet wrongly familiar.
When I voted Chapter 7 (only chapters 1, 7 and 10 were playable), the setting was dingy, as if it had deteriorated without my presence. And that’s when I realized, instead of feeling at home with a game that comforted me when COVID traumatized our family, I was only reminded of my past and how I’d never get it back.”
