    I did this many years ago and now it needs it again. I did use ford part. It will a little harder because I don't bend like I use to. Thanks for this post.

      It’s a tough job for sure, but definitely doable!

    Great video! It was a lot of help! We found a way to cheat rather than having to cut it with a hack saw! We also didn’t have to drill any holes with a drill bit! The bottom of the dash comes loose! Was about six screws and it gives wiggle room! We did both actuators while we were in there. The driver side is a lot easier, I’ll tell you what! 😂

      Part through the dealer was a bit pricey as I recall, but I would only want to do this repair with quality OEM parts.

    Hi Ryan great video I did this repair once by removing the dash and don't want to go that route again. My question is, after you drilled the hole in the side of the glove box you then said it was a lesson learned and you went after the wrong gold colored screw but you didn't mention if there is no need to drill that hole?

    • @ryanhablitzel
      @ryanhablitzel  Před rokem

      I definitely needed to drill the hole to get access to the correct screws. The hole drilled in the dash support did not hinder the strength of the dash support significantly in my opinion.

    I have that very same issue no heating. I don’t have that clonking sound

    • @ryanhablitzel
      @ryanhablitzel  Před 7 měsíci

      There are several issues that could cause a no heat situation, but the blend door is common on these. It doesn’t always make the clunking sound when they go bad.

    how did you get the bottom right bolt out of the on the actuator below where you drilled the hole? OK I SEE WHEN YOU PUT BACK IN THATS WAS WERE YOU DRILLED THE SECOND HOLE AT 14:30 Thanks! Mines never mad a popping sound or clicking just no heat on passenger side!

    Hi Ryan. I have this exact issue in my 2004 Explorer and am trying to decide whether this fix is truly worth it to me.
    How long would you say this fix took you from first removal of the center console to reattachment of the center console, excluding your time spent buying the new actuator and your various junkyard pieces?

    • @ryanhablitzel
      @ryanhablitzel  Před 2 lety +1

      It was a challenging install. Especially since there weren’t any good videos detailing how to fix it and I had to figure things out on my own. If you follow the steps in my video, I think you could do this install in 4-5 hours depending on your mechanical ability.

    What if you get the driver's side one off, test the motor and it appears to be working right? Its like the door is stuck closed. Any advice?

    • @ryanhablitzel
      @ryanhablitzel  Před rokem +1

      There also some vacuum operated actuators under there that could fail. Not sure if that’s the issue.

      Right on it was the little gear all along just didn't notice it at first. I ordered the motorcraft replacement part, hopefully get it by the end of the week.

    Does the single climate control also have that second actuator? I have an 05 explorer with the single climate control that was stuck on heat. I ended up removing the driver blend door actuator and the ac started blowing cold on both sides. The actuator has no movement when adjusting the temperature so i know its bad. The only thing is on the passenger side where the other actuator is supposed to be its not there but theres a broken piece of plastic sticking out where the rod is suppose to go in as if there was once an actuator there.

    • @ryanhablitzel
      @ryanhablitzel  Před 7 měsíci

      These explorers came with many configurations for the heating and air conditioning set up. It’s hard to know for each design. If you see a plastic peace broken, it would probably indicate something is missing. There are probably plenty of these explorers at local pick and pull. You could go and check out similar models at the junk yard to see what the set-up looks like on your model.

    The dual climate control has only 1 blend door actuator? Or is there another one on the driver side?
