I just purchased a talon infitity, black steel, 60 cm. Let me tell you the mechanism and the engineering in this device is A+++. It reacts and handles in the best ways imaginable. I do not ever want to know how much the force this would cause, but just a few light taps in the palm. You can feel the most impact just from slight taps. Incredible product!
Airweight batons are lighter, and of course all other things being equal, steel batons are stronger/tougher than aluminum batons. However, both the Airweight and Black Chrome (steel) models have identical steel end tubes, so the striking surfaces themselves are equally strong and durable.
Friction Batons incorporate the retaining clip in the end cap because there is no internal mechanism controlling the movement of the shafts. The sophisticated design and construction of the Talon Baton features an internal mechanism that precisely controls the movement of the shafts. It’s pre-set to ensure optimal opening and closing action.
Baton choice is largely a matter of personal preference, and our Friction and Talon styles are both exceptionally tough and durable. The Talon is more versatile and convenient to use, as it is closed without the impact needed to close a Friction model. But the tradeoff is that this requires some moving parts inside. It’s very rare that these parts need service or replacement, but with years of hard use, it is possible that they might. So that may be a consideration for you. Note that the Talon Infinity models are backed by a no-questions-asked unlimited lifetime warranty, so in the unlikely event that anything does actually break or fail, you’re covered.
@@aspusa1 thank you for your time, choosing friction loc over the infiniti was precarious, but ultimately sided with the friction loc for the simplicity and the user tested, time tested design --- ultimately I chose ASP over Mondadnock simply because ASP always comes up as the first choice, and not to mention, my instructor has a black chrome 26" friction loc that he's had for 30 years and operates like a dream. Kudos!
The Steel (Black Chrome) and Electroless models weigh the same, while the Airweight models weigh significantly less. More information can be found on the product pages of our website. www.asp-usa.com/collections/talon
Just got the talon baton infinity excited until how much it wobbles, makes it feel a bit cheap. Is this normal or should i return it? I was expecting that this baton would be solid and feel more sturdy. My first one aswell. Let me know please.
There will be slight play in the Talon as it is a disk lock system and the Friction does not move due to the “friction” lock system. Friction batons lock in place due to tapers in the shafts-when extended, this progressive taper solidly locks all three sections into place. The Talon design, however, has straight tubes with no taper. Instead, it uses an internal mechanical system to lock the shafts in the extended position. In order for this system to lock and unlock smoothly, there needs to be a little bit of clearance between each section. So you might perceive a slight amount of “play” in the shafts, but this is completely normal. It in no way compromises the integrity or strength of the baton. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at customerservice@asp-usa.com
The Infinity series adds many generational updates to the proven Talon family. Most significantly, it has fewer internal moving parts, an updated mechanical design and self-lubricating components. The result of all of that is a baton that extends, releases and retracts faster and more smoothly, is more durable over the long haul, and does not require supplemental lubrication. It is also available with new finish and grip options, and supported by a broader range of cases and accessories. Finally, it’s backed by an incredible new warranty that covers the baton against any failure or damage, any time, for any reason, forever.
We would recommend the Envoy Scabbard for this baton. More options can be viewed on our website: www.asp-usa.com/collections/baton-cases/products/60-envoy-scabbard

We don’t typically compare ourselves to other brands-we prefer to let our customer reviews and law enforcement reputation speak for themselves. The Infinity Batons are very strong. They are backed by our incredible new warranty that covers the baton against any failure or damage, any time, for any reason, forever.
@@aspusa1hey thanks for the reply. Just to recap, if anything would of happen to the baton if it bent because I'm hitting a block of wood or for any reason, I can get it fixed with the new warranty, and it's for life time? How does the warranty works? Is it separate or it's in the price already? Thanks again.
We appreciate your question, but unfortunately there is no real answer to that one. There is really no “better” baton-it comes down to agency needs and specifications, training, and/or personal preference. Many officers love the classic simplicity of Friction Batons, and many like the features and functionality of the Talon system. Sorry we can’t give you a better answer on that one, but truly every officer and agency has their own preferences.
Talon batons are made to exacting tolerances, both for precise operation and to minimize movement of the shafts when fully extended. As a result, there isn’t the “wobble” found in some other batons, and movement of the parts in general is negligible. If you have any questions please contact us at customerservice@asp-usa.com
@@aspusa1 I just returned and got another one. The aluminum talon 50mm. That was the 2nd one I received today. The 2nd one even more wobble and it’s hard to extract in the holster.
Sorry to hear this. It is hard to know what you are describing, as this is not a comment or complaint that we typically hear about batons. As mentioned, we ask that you contact customerservice@asp-usa.com directly so we can discuss the issue and figure out the best resolution for you. Please email us there, and if at all possible include a short video (you can just do a quick one with your phone) to help us understand the issue. We’ll do our best to help
I also have a Talon baton and have found it to “wobble” when compared to my friction lock ASP. As a result, I typically carry the regular friction lock.

Are the airweight and blackchrome ones at the same hardness grade? We always been told heavier means harder.

Can the Talon be adjusted for ease of opening such as with the friction lock batons with the "spring" in the end cap?

The sophisticated design and construction of the Talon Baton features an internal mechanism that precisely controls the movement of the shafts. Is this button method from the design of ASP? It's like Agent baton.
Yes, this is our design. The Talon and Agent batons have the same button closure.

My ASP TI-T60 has a bit of side-to-side play or “wiggle” when fully extended. Why is this? Is this normal?
