I read an interesting headline today: "This generation grew up hearing the legend of The Babe. A century from now, our great great grandchildren will grow up hearing the legend of Shohei Ohtani."
Living in the information age where you can be constantly bombarded with push notifications and e-news regarding pretty much anything and everything really dumbs down the fact that what Shohei is doing is, in fact, legendary. Consider that the mythos of Babe Ruth grew not only because of what he was doing at the time, but because of how it spread due to necessity: newspapers, word of mouth, radio, etc. I guess my long and short point is this: we are witnessing history. Not just for baseball, but for American sports as a whole. And for one of the first times in my life, I really don't feel like that's an over-exaggeration.

He has to produce like this every year is why. He's never done this in the MLB who features the best hitters/pitchers in the world. This is why it's making so many headlines this year. He'll get MVP easily this year, but has to do this same thing again next year, and that's where it becomes difficult, because the league will begin to adjust how they approach him, what at bats they take, what kind of pitches they throw, etc, etc. That's why this is a difficult thing to do repeatedly.

For sure Ohtani is the AL mvp but Freddie Freeman just hit for the cycle tonight and was the NL mvp last year and a batting average .296 26 homeruns and a hit for the cycle lastnight. He's in the conversation again for MVP and so is Fernando Tatis Jr. Freddie Freeman going off from last year and what he's doing this year can not be swept under the rug just because homeruns and I am biased to be honest. I am a braves fan to the bone but Freddie has been a consistent beast in the box and defense. So let me know what y'all think it's not an argument it's just an opinion!! #MVFREE
