- Harriet Tubman: Soldier of Freedom is the heart-wrenching yet triumphant story of Harriet Tubman.
Filmed on location on the Eastern Shore the film briefly shares the dramatic, difficult story of Tubman’s life as an enslaved child and adult, her pursuit of freedom on the Underground Railroad, and her determination to end slavery and bring liberty and justice to others.

I could only imagine the feeling of being a free slave in those days. Probably the best feeling in the world.... She was the REAL MVP.
A brave , caring and unselfish woman , embodiment of Love Ms. Harriet Tubman . She endangered her life for others , a true heroine . RIP 💐

There were parts of this documentary portrayed in the new Harriet movie. While critics harp on the movie's flaws and Black on Black violence, I thought it was excellent. Grew up on the western shore of Maryland, Ms Tubman was my childhood hero. The movie wasn't much different from the Harriet movie Ruby Dee starred in back in 1964. Similar to the story told by Cicely Tyson in Woman Called Moses in 1978.
So now we have Cynthia Erivo in Harriet in 2019. All great renditions of a true hero a woman called by God to free her people. The best line from the Harriet movie ---> "God don't mean for people to own people".

I liked the movie. It moved me greatly and inspired me to learn more about the great Harriet Tubman. I believe it has done this for many others.

Regardless either way is awful to think about but it did give Heriot the "visions" and is what she accredits with leading her and countless others to freedom. Is it wild or is it wild she made pacts with families that she helped and ones that helped her and spread out under different names etc to cease control when be time is here. I think we might be here with signs going on. Wonder why no one ever talks about that.... everyone always just talks about the undercut...not the revenge that was planned. How did Harriet Tubman Leave Her Husband Behind
Kamarion Knox from what I’ve learned, he was already a free man so he didn’t want anything to do with helping a runaway slave. So she left him behind
I read that she went back to get him but he had taken a new wife so she left him behind. Besides he was already free.
John Tubman was already a free man, but he had no interest in helping Harriet become free. He went so far as to threaten to rat on her if she ran. So when Harriet made her escape, she left John behind and did not tell him. Harriet eventually went back to get him, only to find out he had found a new wife.
She was not a poor person at all. She own farmland and she had a an old folks home where she reverence John Brown. She took care of veterans. She was not poor that is not true. A business woman is not a poor person…

This small film is telling the truth via her voice in her biography. The movie “Harriet,” is a lot of fiction mixed with some truth !

@@darniseclark6711 I agree that Harriet Tubman's full true story should be told including her senior citizen home she built and her successful fight against the US government for pension from civil war.
The Harriet movie added the Black on Black violence which was heartbreaking. Especially the killing of Ms Bachman. Yet, though fictional, there were true life Black people working to recapture slaves. Just as today there are Black people behind a blue uniform upholding a code of silence during reign of violence against Black people. Stephon Clark, Botham Jean, Tamir Rice...too many to name.
Still, I enjoyed the movie for the portrayal of Harriet Tubman as possibly the deciding voice in the Civil War.
@@serenitycarlos2 You make some very valid points about our people not being able to stick together and support each other, then and now. I've always believed that our not trusting each other to be a result of slavery, which is what he wanted, because he knows, Black people in a unit would over power him, which is one reason why they copy everything we do and put their claim on all of our inventions throughout the history of the world They not only needed to enslave our bodies, but our minds as well, in order to maintain control. White people have always pitted us against each other, even for their entertainment. I respect your opinion and enjoyed reading your perspective. . Glad you enjoyed the movie, Be Blessed
