1, multiplayer works now, I didn't know it didn't at one point, I only started playing a day or two ago lol. 2, the npc are supposed to be hard as it encourages you to use stealth and wits. 3, if you run out of sight into a shadow (if your character in the bottom right goes dark your in a shadow) they will investigate where you are (they get pretty close so don't worry if they get up in your face, I think it's like that for a fear factor) giving you a chance to go behind them once they walk away and kill them. I hope this helps you get the basics if you ever decide to play again, it's really good and I'm sad to see you not even get like halfway through the game so I hope you play again.

Single player is actually quite easy, the best way to get around every enemy is to lure them while be undetected to a corner, pop out, and you can take them down face to face like that, best way to beat the game. Though, I have yet to beat it because I have awful wifi and disconnected on level 5 everytime.

when i realized the enemies were basically blind when you stand in the dark it all made sense
if you hide in the shadows, you can even charge straight at them and catch them by surprise, instantly killing them.
