If you run into the wall and crouch, when riding the elevator, you'll slide to the right and will stuck in a wall. But if you press ← on time, you'll be able to stay on the elevator and keep "Super secret blue mode" on. Not sure if bug or feature.

Fun fact: nothing stops a dedicated player from looping all the way around and collecting every upgrade in the game. Just be aware that dying causes you to lose the blue upgrade (by not taking it the first time around, and then claiming the blue upgrade afterwards, you can be blue colored while you leave the game)
