Instrumentation is ok field for govt jobs like in ONGC or power generation plants, but vacancies are very less, whereas electrical has most. EC on the other hand is not a good choice for govt jobs, but telecom sector is just almost zero, embedded is still slightly bigger than zero and VLSI is decent. One can also go to software domain from EC.
See, programming can have many levels. High level - more understandable to humans as it's more readable Low level - less understandable to humans as not much readable Know that eventually any program written by human will run on machine. The machine may physically exist or may not exist. The non existing machine is say another software. Software industries use high level programming languages (Python, Java, etc.). Python is interpreted and java runs on JVM (Java Virtual Machine). These languages cannot interact with hardware i.e. microprocessor & microcontroller, because its platform is made like that (platform independent). Meanwhile in C language is compiled language. The compiler converts high level C program into "machine code" of that machine (microprocessor or microcontroller which actually physically exists) Embedded systems and in hardware they study assembly language (human readable equivalent of machine code). If you write program in high level language and pass through interpreter or compiler, the program may not be optimised (means you can edit it to make even shorter and faster). Meanwhile in embedded C or assembly, yoh have full control on increasing efficiency & optimization. Anyway that doesn't mean high level software industry is bad. It would be too much work for them that it'll be impossible to do tasks.

No way, none. However, PSU/govt job exams may ask C language (BARC does) and assembly language of 8085 microprocessor
