This was probably the closest Bowser ever got to finally winning. His plan was pretty well executed for the most part and he gave Mario the fight of his life up to this point even with the help of the Star Spirits.
I personally love the lore of it. Bowser and Kammy effectively overthrew the Gods when they sealed the Star Spirits away and took the Star Rod. And when the Chosen of the Gods came to challenge them, *they were prepared for it, and almost won once again.*
He actually won at the start of the game, but only lost to Mario due to sheer plot armor. Even bowser lampshades on this at the end of the fight, he literally became INVINCIBLE and still lost to Mario. I'm a big fan of Bowser and this was his peak performance on all Mario games.

Just finished the game today. The ending is very captivating. The strongest feeling I get from it is that it has that very profound sense of “age” to it. Not only in how it’s from 2000 and it’s on the N64, but how the music sounds and ending screen itself looks, and how they tie together. There’s just this heavy sense of “oldness” to it that comes from a lot of really small details in it. Pretty much impossible for me to put into words without sounding like a blithering lunatic. If anyone can relate to this and try to help put it into words, please let me know!
Fun fact: Luigis mansion 3 comes after this game so this is literally the last mario game of the mario timeline theory but then luigis mansion 3 comes after
Well that can't be right because TTYD canonically comes after this game. How? Because Lady Bow knows who Mario is in that game and remembers the events of this game. Not sure about Super Paper Mario though.

This fight was Princess Peach's hero moment, her prayers allowing Mario to defeat Bowser and save the day. And from here on she helps Mario more and more, until she DIRECTLY fights alongside Mario in Super Paper Mario, being regarded as a hero of prophecy. It's amazing seeing this knowing what she evolves into.
I loved this game so much, I’m currently playing it on my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, but this game used to make me so happy on my sad days, kinda how kids these days are so happy to play Fortnite, such a classic
I want some closure here, can you go back in and play the game after defeating Bowser, or does it just freeze like in Super Metroid? Or does it load up right before the final battle?
Haven't tried it. When the final screen comes up with Mario and Peach, the system softlocks until the player resets the game or turns it off. Afterwards I turned it back on, and my total play time was the same from before I fought Bowser, so I would assume the game doesn't save after defeating the final boss. Super Mario 64 was the same way, where the game softlocks on the ending screen and waits for you to turn the system off or reset, and loading your file starts you before the boss.

I haven't actually beat the game yet, but I think after you beat the game you can see Lady Bow from 64 in one of the areas. I do know that Super Paper Mario doesn't do that because (spoiler) you lose the ability to use Tippi after you beat the game.
@@superstar64 OH, COOL! And that's not a spoiler, Super Paper Mario was my childhood, and I played it right through to the end. I got to and beat the final boss in just a couple of days. I got 100% on EVERYTHING, beat both Pits of 100 Trials, got all the recipes, Catch Cards and maps, and reached the max level possible. The best part is, it only took me 6 months!

He probably has two attack badges equipped. The one you get from Anti-Guy in Shy Guy Toy Box and the other you get from trading for star pieces. Mario's Base after getting Ultra Boots is 4. The attack badge is Plus 1 each. That brings his base to 6. The Mega Jump adds an additional plus 5 to that attack for 11.
