once the uncle who delivered my 3 drinks (don’t ask why 3 i was having a tough day….) spilt 1 and he was so apologetic about it, even offered to pay me more in return. didn’t accept the money because uncle really cycled rather far, was quite old and tired. he looked so scared when he called me to come to the door and said he had something to say to me. may have had a bad experience last time. hope people will be nicer to each other.

its so sad to see most of them being disrespected when they do such great work for us. whenever its raining i always tell drivers to drive safe. its so dangerous to rush them and put their life at risk. i hope everyone becomes more gracious and understanding. if drivers could, wouldnt they also wish they can deliver to you earlier so that they can move on to the next order? lets be kinder, everyone ❤️

For those wondering which mini cupcake, it's TWELVE CUPCAKES becos their staff literally told me to not shake the plastic bag the slightest while walking becos the cupcakes will pop out of the tray (I was a customer, not deliverer)
Had a experience not long ago which i waited almost 1hr and a half for the food, best thing it was finger food. I ordered during the peak hours so i know i have to wait, initial time was to wait 1hr which i did and it updated to wait another 20mins and keep in mind this was all happening with a kitchen is preparing your food. just as i was going to message the rider, the rider actually message first and told me sorry about the wait but the kitchen is still preparing, this was already after the 1hr wait and the rider told me that the store people said what the guy said in the video - "cannot wait then cancel la". Firstly calling the rider to cancel is indirectly calling the customer to cancel which pisses me off and after the rider finally send the food to me, i tipped him and make a complain to grab about the store. Food was hard like rocks and the ice already melted as i ordered bubble tea. So clearly the store had already either prepared or just do a rush order to pass off. And to make it clear, i salute the rider for waiting 1hr+ when he can get more orders which is why i tipped him, the whole ordeal is about the store.
8 months late, but the rider could ask for a long waiting time compensation and get some money. Also, a smart rider will not blur blur declare that he's already at the restaurant and wait for the restaursnt to finish preparing his order then he declare. Because by not declaring, he can receive a secondary order from the corporate dispatchers and he can go there and collect it while the slowpoke merchant takes his own sweet time to prepare. That way he can fulfill more than one order at a time and earn more $ Source: I am a rider myself

Perhaps food delivery riders should launch an online campaign against condo ban of riders. Condo management is never above our civil rights conferred to the people of the land EVEN if THEY ARE ABOVE THE LAW. 1) Maybe a petition to all food delivery riders to leave the food at the guardhouse if riders are not allowed to ride inside. 2) Condo management may argue that delivery riders are speeding, what about their own residents? Don't think they abide by their speed limit. If these condos feel so entitled, then they should not allow this entitlement to cause riders to lose time because TIME is INCOME for them. The AIM of the online campaign is to appeal to all riders to leave the food at the guardhouse if they aren't allowed to enter the condominium with their own choice of transportation.
I got $50 tips from woodlands and I live in the area, heavy rain. Very nice guy sometimes it's heartwarming also, customer order another order of food just to give you one
The good fare rates of the past is no longer because of the oversupply of delivery people. Even if rates dropped, there will be enough who are hungry enough to work for lesser.

I am a part time deliver rider and make delivers when i have spare time from my main job. But yes some custoemrs are plain assholes. I was asked to deliver food to a wrong address they input and they still rudely demanded me to send over to their 'right' address which was more than 10km away. I simply told them i am gonna call grab to settle this issue. So grab instructed me to dispose off the food (which i kept and ate myself without any remorse as the customer was an asshole anyway). There were heartwarming moments too when i was caught in the rain and upon delivering the food to a customer's house, he gave me a bottle of water and a towel for me and helped to wipe me dry. To customers: "Delivery riders (parttime/fulltime) are also humans and deserve respect). Personally, its a side income for me, so if the customer is gonna be an asshole, I dont mind being banned for a fews day to a week either. Your food will be better off in my tummy anyway LOL
Delivery co may unfairly make riders compensate for foods delivered with issues. Unfair like they inform them only 2 to 3 weeks later when they have deleted the photo evidence of delivery
Long waiting time at merchant and customers want fast delivery time. When cycling, the soup houses in inappropriate containers and spills but customer rejects. Customers request fast delivery but there is long waiting time at merchant. Customers request riders to cancel orders. Of course riders will not cancel orders. Less orders to earn.
I'm genuinely curious if flexibility is the biggest thing but need to work 6-7 days per week (which is crazy), doesn't that make it even less flexible than a 9-5?
There are some riders that only work peak periods. In the earlier delivery days where escooters were still a thing, it was quite achievable by doing just peak periods, lunch and dinner. Not sure if that has changed. Plus what the above comment said about OTOT so I guess in that sense it is quite flexible.
Yea about being the customer and delivery person at the same outlet you frequent to, I can definitely relate to how staff at merchants treat me. Places I have eaten/purchased at and delivered from include: • Din Tai Fung • Paradise Dynasty • Swensen's • McDonald's • The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf • Starbucks (they treat me better both as delivery person and customer) • Koi Thé • LiHO • MOS Burger And almost always walkers like me get laughed at by riders, especially when I'm collecting frozen items like ice cream, saying that they will melt under breath. Very few say that they respect the work I do.
