  • SKÁLD Rún lyrics & translation ᛊᚲᚨᛚᛞ ᚱᚢᚾ The lyrics are taken from a 13th-century Old Norse poem that survives as a handful of stanzas in Hyndluljóð (or Hyndla's Song), the Poetic Edda, and as a stanza in the Gylfaginning section (Part 1) of Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda.
It was Odin who invented the runes. As he was pierced with a spear and hung from the windswept tree for nine full nights without any food, Odin picked up the runes. He cried out and began to know. Later Odin will use the runes engraved on a bark to seduce the goddess Rind.
