- Join us on on our 35 day European train vacation as we travel all over Europe on some of the most iconic train journeys in Europe. We ride the Caledonian Sleeper, , Nightjet, , TGV Lyria, Renfe, Avlo, Ouigo, Glacier Express, Bernina Express, Belle Epoque, VIP Panorama as well as the Eurostar, just to name a few. We had a great time in these 35 days, we hope you enjoy coming along with us.
Our train vacation took us to Spain, France, England, Scotland, Switzerland, Austria and Italy all by train! You could do this trip with a Railpass, a Swisspass or just buying individual tickets on sites like Italiarail and Trenitalia.

I've experienced riding a train crossing under water in Hong Kong's Hongkong Island to Kowloon. You know you're under water because it suddenly becomes cool. Been to Paris, cruise on Seine River, Euro Disney, sights in Paris, France then to Brussels, Belgium; the Netherlands; Cologne, & cruise on Rhine River in Germany; Vienna & Salzburg, Austria; Leichtenstein; Lucerne, Switzerland; Rome, Assissi, cruise on Venice, Italy then flew to UK and went to Leeds Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare's birthplace), Costwolds, Oxford, Dover, Canterbury and all around London's burroughs, then to Glasgow, the Highlands, Loch Lomond, Urquhart Castle, Loch Ness; Nevis, Williams, all around Glasgow, side trip to Carlisle. Returned in 2015 to Munich, Neuschwanstein Castle, Oberramagau, 1st CC in Dachau, then to Salzburg for Sound of Music Tour, returned to Munich to catch DB Bahn to Prague, Czech Republic. Good I did these before pandemic, now I don't think I have the strength to do these.
Train will be faster and has more scenery on the way🥹 and with discount the price will be affordable as well😂

Trains outside the US are so much more modern and fancier. I'm just now seeing this, and I am in grad school. When I'm done, I will visit some friends in the U.K and take a bullet train to hit up as many countries as I can. Beautiful viiews

in 2009 I took a trip to spain through my high school's spanish program. we took an overnight train from madrid to barcelona and it was my first time doing something like that. it wasn't very fancy but a fun experience. we were bunked together in different rooms that held 4 people. but the amazing day (i wish we spent more time) in barcelona was worth it.

Rob have you every be to the top of the Eiffeel Tower, GateWay Arch, Sears Needles (now called the Willows Tower or soemthing else), Space Needle, and the CN Tower. I have been to the top off all those and it was fun. I just would not do the other crazy stuff, that is not for me.

Hi you lucky travelers!! Just started viewing your channel and find it to be a wonderful down to earth experience. I just have 2 comments that I believe would be helpful;
1. When visiting "foreign" countries, could you PLEASE help newbies, as myself, with names of restaurants/coffee shops you have selected. I would hate wasting time (rebuilding the "foodie" wheel) trying to figure out a good/clean place to eat; and
2. You are so very good in explaining the different amenities i.e. in lodging, transportation, etc. But your voice is too low and sometimes muffled when covering say a meal or names of hotels.
These are not "complaints" just recommendations to experience my travels based on your recommendations. Thank you!!

Air travel is incredibly safe, safer than a train - but I respect if you have a phobia. I like rail because I want to see first-hand the vastness of North America - Canada and the United States - and I have driven long-haul trucks but you don't really get to enjoy the trip when you are driving. It would be fun to just hang out with Allie and Rob in the dining car. Thank you, your Grounded Life Travel is inspirational.
Ask your doc for some calming drugs so you can get on the plane and hopefully sleep.

Question? Where did you store your rolling suitcase on the days where you were sightseeing and then catching a train? Great info as we are going to do a 30 day trip in the fall. When you arrived in Toulouse, did you carry it around or store it somewhere? I love how you took advantage of the early mornings. Thank you for a really nice tour.
We actually kept our hotel in Paris and left our stuff there even though we slept on the train. It was less hassle than finding a locker for everything.

It looks like you had an amazing trip. I remember going to England with my mom in 2019. We went to London for a few days then took Eurostar via chunnel to Paris. We stayed in Paris 2 days then Eurostar to Amsterdam for 2 days and flew back home.

Strange as Eurostar doesn't run Paris-Amserdam. Maybe you meant Thalys ? (Although to be fair Eurostar has just merged with Thalys)

Liked this vlog. I would travel like this but at this point in my life not sure. With all the great take away food in France your choices were not so great. Hoping to do a similar trip when my back is improved. Would have spent more time in Paris and not so much on trains. Traveling by night is a good idea.

We didn't get any passes except the Swiss Pass. I think it worked out cheaper that way, but more effort to buy individual tickets. We also wanted to buy upgraded classes in some countries like Italy.

I know everyone likes hispeed trains but I wonder if the older trains are still around? I like slower you can see the countryside better. I think they are gone. Toulouse is beautiful it's called the pink city.
Yes they are. In fact it is mostly slower regional trains. We just booked the high speed ones to save some time and get the experience but many trains are the regionals.

We went in February, pretty much all of February and the first week of March. It was a little cold in some places but not really all that bad temperature wise.
