- A Maryland grandson secretly published his grandma’s children’s book she wrote more than 50 years ago. Barbara Rieco received the book she wrote as a surprise gift from her grandson, Chad Cooper. For years, she tried to get the book published but she kept receiving rejection letters. After Cooper published the book, it became the no.1 in children's multicultural literature. This just goes to show that big publishing houses have no idea what the public actually wants to read. I'm just glad that she was able to self-publish sucessfully and retain more of the profits from these sales!

also im pretty damn sure the grandma didn't take "no" for an answer when she sent tens of different requests (not that i think its bad)
@@Snejk_Y00 EXACTLY she kept every rejection letter so she definitely didn't take no for an answer! It's just more ways to get there these days.

I got that very book for my youngest cousin and we both loved it! I saw this and I was literally brought to tears that she tried for 50+ years to get it published but never could! At least, publishing these days is more easier but I love the book itself! It shows us no matter our stature, we’re all the same no matter what!
