THESE BIG WOODEN KICKER RAMPS ARE SO SCARY!

  • My confidence to ride wooden ramps at speed has been at an all time low recently! I can't seem to get it out of my head that I am not going to crash. So I thought it was about time that changed, I went to Twisted Oaks which is the perfect place as they have 3 different kicker ramps to choose from. They have a 6 foot one an 8 foot and a 10 foot one. I slowly build the confidence up to ride them until eventually I am sending the 10 foot kicker ramp!
I hope you enjoy the video!
    Kara :)

Those wooden ramps are massive. Amazing work!
I am loving how half the comments are telling you where they think you are going wrong, like you didn't have Tom Cardy and Sam Pilgrim there to give you tips!

Well done Kara I’m really impressed with how much you’ve progressed. Tom is a lucky guy. 😊

I 100% know what you mean about still feeling low confidence even on a feature you have hit before. It feels like before it may have been a fluke, or today you are gonna be worse. But if you have eaten, rested, and warmed up then you just have to have the mental toughness to power through that doubt and do what you know how to do - ride your bike.

"I am going to warm up on some jumps I know" - the gaps in the woods that I have done ONCE and cased the crap out of... yet I can ride the mulches all day! Definitely have more fear than you with gap jumps haha

I think what would help with your in air skills is to try a MUCH lighter bike and build your way up....those electric bikes are incredibly hard to manipulate in the air without the skills

Defo , I had the Orbea Wild and it was a lump , sure you can jump on it but if you get it wrong it’s not easy to correct it mid-air 😂

It's so funny what gets in your head ..I have more trouble with Rat trap than the mulch jumps 😀
I always point people at the largest one too and suggest a couple of cranks for comfort😁.

kara, not to be a know how but if you put in more Motion into youre jumps, you will boost mire and go bigger and farther. as you Approach the beginning of the jump, tuck into the bike aas you ride the lip of the jump start to push off the jump as you are jumping for a football and by thr top of the jump you should be like a firework at the end of the jump and explode.
    you got this
i dont why i telling you this when, youre a vetter jumper then me
keep going, the content is fire

You're really zipping along those trails now, even gap jump trails. It's cool to see genuine real progression and enjoyment. Should drag TC along to a foam pit session.

I can definitely relate. My skills are better than ever but I used to jump bigger stuff a few years ago even though my technique wasn't very good. But I've crashed pretty bad a few times and that is for sure a constant battle now when wanting to send stuff, especially them big jumps because that's where you can properly f yourself up..

That was ok 👌🏽 you beat yourself up too much! You’ve ridden them loads of times before, you’ll get better the more you practice, but if you only ride/ practice just to make videos obviously the progression will take longer , also considering you’re on an e-bike you’re going ok 👍🏾 it’s a lot easier watching it than actually doing riding it so keep going. If you wanna get really good I still think your small DJ bike is better for jumps 🎉

Did you watch how fast you went on that warm up trail Kara? That was pretty slick, you were flying. Don't worry about being scared on the jumps, it happens to everyone at some point but you pushed through and got some nice air time. You did great over the tables too. It's always cool seeing Tom and Sam busting out the tricks, you and Lewi certainly have your work cut out filming them. Great video.

Good job being persistent despite the fear. Maybe practice exaggerating and boosting as much as you can on small jumps before moving onto larger ones. Looks like you are absorbing the takeoff on the big jumps with your legs which scrubs off all of your speed and height needed to clear them. I think moving on to the next highest jump before mastering the small ones will keep you perpetually fearful and be discouraging. Again it's nice to see you pushing forward all the time and it inspires me in my own jumping progression.

The reason why you're losing your speed and not getting any height
because you're putting all your weight on the front end and compressing all your speed and losing it. You need to losen up and pull up more or lean back more.

Your getting beaten by the weight of a E bike, I'm sorry to say this but your not strong enough for that weight of bike.

Fair play Kara you did excellent, and you explained the mental aspect very well ✌️❤️ to the World.
