When You Have Every Upgrade And Still Fail - Stardew Valley

- Ever wondered what it would look like to buy EVERY upgrade in Journey Of The Prairie King? I start the game with 999 coins so I can buy everything along the way. I try and beat hardmode without dying, but even with all the powerups I still fail.. tough game. Stardew Valley gameplay with my commentary as always!

I've beaten this without dying legitimately without any mods or cheats. A couple things to point out:
- Every bullet upgrade technically pierces, but only if you deal overkill damage. The first enemies have 1 health, and if you get the bullet upgrade, you deal 2 damage, letting you kill two enemies with 1 bullet. However, enemy health increases in each world, making the piercing effect much less common/effective.
- Prioritize bullet upgrades, then fire rate. Boots should only be purchased last if you don't have enough for anything else.
- When dealing with bosses, playing passive is a lot easier and safer. Hide behind the stump and wait for him to move back and forth across the screen. When he's finished moving, he stops for a moment, then takes cover again. Use this time to shoot at him diagonally.
- Levels 2-3 (two rivers) and 3-3 (empty graveyard) are the real final bosses of the game. These levels truly boil down to getting the right powerups at the right time. If you don't, it means an unavoidable death. Your DPS literally can't keep up with enemy spawn rate without powerups, so there is a genuine amount of luck pulling this off.
- During the fight with Fector, rapidly strafing back and forth throws off Fector's aim, making the bullets spray harmlessly off to either side of you. This is really the best time to damage him. He's trying to lead his aim, but wiggling back and forth means his aim goes on to either side of you. Don't try shooting at him when he uses his own wagon wheel attack
- This took me about 10-ish hours of dedicated attempts before I got the achievement. It might take shorter or longer, depending on how lucky you get for 2-3 and 3-3. Good luck!
Tbh used the same strategy and beat the game the third time I ever played it. It just seemed the most reasonable strategy
Also try to keep the Sherrif badge for vector, then it's not that hard to defeat him quickly without dying.

There was something intensely satisfying about watching the sheriff's badge and wagon wheel combo sped up on the level where there's nothing to block the bullets

This is why I said "Screw it" and downloaded a mod to make me invincible in Journey of the Prairie King. I got the Steam achievement for beating the game (I couldn't even beat the game I was that bad) and the Fector's Challenge achievement.
Was this cheating? Yes.
Do I care? No.

Same here. Its your game, so play it like you want to, most important is that you enjoy it. And if you enjoy to have all achivements unlock: Just do it. Its a Single Player game so no one gets harmed.

Gotta say, watching this was satisfying. I have beaten the Journey Of The Prairie King myself, so I know the struggle when trying to beat it legit. Beating the game without dying is a nightmare, the only reason I managed to beat it the first time was because I entered the final boss with 13 lives and the star power-up.
However, while trying to beat the Journey Of The Prairie King, I figured out that you can "cheat" the boss by shooting your bullets so they barely pass the three stumps he is hiding behind. If you line it up correctly, you will be able to hit the boss with every bullet without him being able to return fire. I am not sure if this works on both sides of the stumps, I have personally only done it on the left side of the map. I would think that it is only possible to do on the left, since the reason for him not being able to retun fire, is because all of his bullets are hitting the stump in front of him.
Thought I'd let you know.

Hi DF! I know you’re probably never gonna see this, but I wanted to put the idea out there. In Stardew Valley, when playing the flower dance in Spring, I noticed that you have to be on a certain amount of hearts with a marriage candidate when asking them to dance otherwise, you get rejected. I’d really like a video featuring the different rejections and reactions when asking a marriage candidates to dance if on the required amount of hearts, then not on the required amount of hearts! That’s all I had to say, I hope you have a great day (that rhymed!)!

I died in the bossfight forest but this is how i deal with the boessfight
- Use ninja ability
- Warp to the boss part
- easy killing
but yeah, Im still working on the level, might beat it soon. (:

DF you know on the first few levels you can just stay in the corner and shoot towards the other corner and as long as an enemy isn’t perfectly aligned with the wall, which has only happened to me twice, right before it touches you the bullet hits it.
He couldn't've here because he had those imps or whatever flying at him from all directions.
I used the same cheese for my sandwich.

Hey DF! Here’s a tip: go to the corner in the first 2 lvls and fire up sideways and upper right and you will be fine
Mother of Christ! I've never seen anyone playing through this mini-game. I never got past the first room (yeah, I give up on this kind of stuff very easily), and I'm in shock, this shit gets really really hard.
The only two achievements that actively terrify me
I still have to complete this for the Achievement. I don't want to use mods though, I really am dreading this..
Each bullet has a damage value. If the bullet has more damage than the enemy it hits has HP, then it loses damage equivalent to the enemy's HP and keeps going (killing the enemy, and "piercing"). Bullets don't simply pierce- it is purely based on damage.
Also, after several MONTHS of trying this, I did in fact get Fector's Challenge! (Fully legit!)

I’ve always been curious if it would be lucrative enough to make it worth doing entirely beets/wheat on the farm with the mill. If you turned a whole field into beet juice and flour would it make it worth it to grow only those cheaper crops? I’m a big fan, love your videos DF!
For the first levels, I use the "corner" strategy. I just camp in one of the four corners of the map and kill everything coming my way. I can usually make it to the second sets of levels without losing any lives, and pick some extra ones along the way when the field is clear before retreating back to my corner, so it makes advancing significantly easier. Once the flying enemies come in though, this becomes a bit harder to use since they can just kill you without you even seeing them, but it's the easiest way to beat the first few levels that I have found!
I decided today to start installing mods, and noticed, theres like weapons from the character's in the game, like Elliot's Pencil, and a frying pan. Might be interesting to look at or make a video about..? All the Spouse's weapons, I guess?

one odd way to increase your ability on the final boss is to walk towards her when she starts, as you shoot bullets closer together, meaning more of them will hit before she moves.

I have played Prairie King more than the actual game, my record is 5th hard mode, last level. Every time you kill the final boss the game resets into a harder mode.
DF should really play Stardew Valley with no mods
Also: It would be really hard to beat the game even with mods. Nice job DF.
So bullet "pierce" is based on damage. So if your shot overkills an enemy the bullet will "pierce" for the damage unused by that bullet. What I'm trying to say is that all damage upgrades give pierce; it's just situational.

I was not aware there was anything past the first boss.
The fortune teller in the fall festival tells you about some boss that you're prepared to fight. I think it refers to the final boss of that minigame. Do you know if there is any dialog change after you beat the boss? I have no clue as I'm not good enough to make it to the 3rd stage.
Game must give us reward when we do some good point or finished the mini game
Get yourself in the upper left corner of each level and it becomes relatively easy as you only have to focus on the direction of fire and not movement.
Apparently, luck doesn't affect this at all. It's totally RNG. I beat this on a neutral day either way :) I got super lucky with a power up.
I beat this game legitimately and it took me 3 hours of preparation and 7 hours of actually grinding it before i completed it
Here is a challenge. What if you went to Skull Cavern every day for a month and keep furnaces going to run the smelter in the automate mod, how much could you make by selling every ore at the first of the month?
Except as a glitch where if you stand in the corner and shoot diagonal it's very rare for an me to even get close enough to touch because you're shooting diagonally and they still can kill you but it's it's hard

Dude was this like your second time ever playing JoTPK? All three bosses are easy as pie with no mods as long as you stand in the right place. You can stand so their bullets can't hit you but you can still hit them. Repeat 2 times and done. Don't even need a powerup for the final boss.
Is a mod like the one you use on nexus or so?
