Lashawn made a lot of good points though. It sucks that she left so early because she probably would have turned out more interesting looks than jiggly did and I love them both but "this is not RuPauls best friend race" will live on forever
Sadly enough she lost the lipsync fair and square against the Princess. She had to definitely come out of her shell and apply that same energy she had with Jiggly to the challenges
Personally I think she didn't really make a good point. All jiggly was saying was "I don't sew, so this is the thing I'm weak at and I should be better in other challenges, I'm not busted all round" and leshawn seemed to come for her for no reason.

If Rupaul is truly trying the find the best drag queens in the country--and I mean the best of the best--to compete on his show, then how the fuck are there STILL queens allowed on the show who don't know how to do things such as sew or their own makeup? On the real though, helpless queens keep on going on the show--knowing damn well that sewing, makeup abilities, etc. are essential--yet they still have the nerve to complain about not being able to do these things? Now that don't make no damn sense.
Reality TV isn't about finding the best, it's about being entertaining. Remember, Charisma Uniqueness Nerve and Talent. Charisma is the first item.
Because if everybody is perfect, what else is there to talk about. Its gon be boring. So they pick them for drama, and to shake the show a little bit

Jiggly kept tip toeing around what was said. Lashawn said "This isn't the first season, so not being able to sew is not an excuse." Jiggly tried to turn it on Lashawn and say "Well why can't you paint?" even though Lashawn already acknowledged that she's learning to paint, and it wouldn't be excuse. Jiggly was a mess and should have went home first.

I think that last statement is sooooo out of context, knowingly that Lashawn did bad in the next challenge and her lipsync wasn’t that great in contrast. Jiggly knew how to outperform on the lipsync though (except against Willam with that country song)
@@JohnGarrisonCovers but then again, sewing abilities aren't a requirement to be on the show, so nobody should telling anyone off about not knowing how to sew. Lashauwn was more in the wrong because she was judging Jiggly for not knowing how to sew when it doesn't matter if she can or not. Yes, she'll fail the design challenge, but the design challenges are more about showcasing your signature style and knowing your drag well enough, but it just so happens that Jiggly is a performer first, look queen second. Lip syncing is also an essential part of Drag Race, so why didn't Lashauwn do better?

She didn't. She said "Some people can sew, some people cannot." She wasn't making excuses, she was saying it as a matter of fact. Jiggly even clarified "It's not an excuse, it's the reality of it". Not every season is going to involve sewing, even years later we see this: Season 7 was mostly acting challenges and season 9 was performances, S13 was mostly dance/performances.
Shangela, Adore Delano, Naysha López, Nina Bonina, LaLa Ri, and the winner of S13 Symone all didn't know how to sew, yet were very successful on each of their shows. Even Valentina admitted she could barely sew, but she could drape a garment & tell a designer how to fashion fabric along a bias. Being a drag queen is about impersonation & entertainment. There are queens who can't sing or act, yet nobody has ever said "There are singing challenges on this show, why didn't you get a voice coach to teach you how to sing?" or "There are comedy challenges on this show, why didn't you take improv classes to learn how to be witty?" or "There are brand challenges on this show, why didn't you go to school for marketing?"
The reality is drag queens are talented and multi-faceted, but they're not going to have the same talents as another drag queen. And yes this show has a variety of challenges, but failing at one doesn't mean you'll be eliminated. So long as you're talented in other ways, the show will find a way to try to keep you. This is a reality show, more than an actual competition and girls who can actually sew are not guaranteed to win. The underground ballroom scene that invented drag has always been filled with a variety of queens: those who sew, those who hire designers, or who mop clothing. Sewing is not a requirement of drag, therefore not every queen can sew. That's all Jiggly was trying to say and LeShaun tried to make it about something else.
@@YourMajesty143 The point is that Jiggly WAS making an excuse. I get that not every queen knows how to sew, but LeShauwn had a point. She didn't know how to paint, but she didn't try to offer that as an excuse for not doing well when it came to her being criticized. I KNOW that not every Queen can sew, but c'mon. From Season 4 on, it is pretty much expected of you as a queen to know how to construct an outfit. No, you don't have to be the world's greatest sewer, but those who can't sew have been known to utilize their talents in other ways to effectively create an outfit that is going to be adequate enough to get them through the challenge.
NONE of the examples you offered are good justifications to excuse sewing. Shangela was mercilessly read for her lack of style on the runway, despite always having a great personality and good energy. Naysha Lopez was ELIMINATED for a sewing challenge. She came back a couple of episodes later and was all but forgotten when Chi Chi murdered her in a lipsync. LaLa Ri completely FAILED her sewing challenge and then went home two episodes later! Being fourth out is not being "very successful" in the competition. Symone wasn't a sewer, no, but she NEVER lost a lipsync AND despite not sewing, she was ALWAYS able to sell her garments on the runway.
The reason you don't hear people say, "Why can't they sing?" is because everyone knows that they use autotune and voice correction for almost EVERY song performed on the show, despite it being less obvious for those with vocal talent. (Listen to the AS5 "I'm in Love" without the vocal edits). The reason people don't ask about a queen's comedy chops is because nine times out of ten, if you're NOT funny, you're in the bottom or going home. We have seen how it has turned out for plenty of people who have bombed comedy challenges, notoriously Snatch Game, and they have rightfully been in the bottom two or sent home in regards to their performance. (Also, Season 13 was one of the worst seasons produced on the show in a while. NOT a good example to use for an argument on success considering blatant favoritsm and inconsistent judging throughout the season)
Her trying to tell the judges that she didn't know how to sew WAS an excuse. It WASN'T a justification. LaShauwn was right that the judges don't care about excuses like that and they've proven time and time again on the show that they DON'T. You may not NEED these skills to be successful on the show and I don't think anyone can say that, but by Season 4, telling the judges you don't know how to sew WAS NOT a very good look for ANYONE.
