    It's not a GMC thing there's not enough bandwidth in a Bluetooth connection to do Android auto wirelessly, it's the same with every manufacturer. You can stream music and phone calls wirelessly but all the additional information such as mapping, Pandora etc all require the bandwidth of a wired connection. as somebody else mentioned that may be changing with Android version 11 and Android auto 5.8 however it won't be backwards compatible because the Bluetooth chipset in the GMCs is not capable of the latest Bluetooth spec.

      Thank you, but why not just offer the GPS Nav system that's currently available in the Denali? You can buy all the pieces separately for about 1 grand and install it yourself, not cheap - but no data plan required. @suzuki06g Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks again (really!), but here's the problem - if you buy a vehicle off the lot that doesn't have GPS Nav - your screwed because it can't be added (or 2 dealerships are lying to me). Beyond that, to get in vehicle WiFi I need OnStar... which will exceed the cost of a new Garmin GPS every year. Sure OnStar has other uses, but none of which anyone really needs and in my case even want. Really not trying to be difficult here and I totally appreciate your answering my questions. But ultimately all I want is to do is add GPS Nav to a vehicle that didn't come with it ('19 Acadia SLE-2), so why can't a dealership install it?

      @suzuki06g Před 4 lety

      Ok, just caught your response - and thank you for the response! Please explain how true GPS Navigation is an option because my dealership knows nothing about it. The only thing they can offer is that I should have bought the Denali package which comes with GPS, not OnStar and not smartphone - but true GPS is what I would like. Bought my '19 Acadia SLE-2 off the lot and the only thing offered is through On-Star (which I do not want) mostly because I could buy a new Garmin for less every year verses the cost of On-Star.

    What good is this if the screen on your "smartphone" is not exactly emulated on the dashboard screen and why the cable ?? It should be done wirelessly with wi-fi. My 2018 Chevy truck supposedly has wi-fi and LTE. Why do they not connect using wireless. Yes, I know it does bluetooth that way but it is severely limited in the content. In this day and age it should connect completely seamlessly right when you approach or when you enter your vehicle without all that cable connect crap. Way behind people !

    Seems a lot easier to just pop a mag mount on the dash and just use the phone instead of going through al that for a way less useful display. Love my GMC, but I wish I could NOT pay for sub par navigation and info-bs... Rather get another thousand or so off the price and use my phone for everything.... NONE of the vehicle GPS systems impress me and live by GPS every day. A separate Garmin is still light years better.

    • @stevejohnson5035
      @stevejohnson5035 Před 3 lety

      The whole point of Android Auto is to use your phone's interface such as GPS and display it on the screen. so that "sub par navigation" would be google maps which is generally quite good. And in many states, that mag mount with your phone is not legal because it's accessing data.
