Making a Hand Plane Holder

  • Another hand plane holder build video. If you are out to organize your tools, there is probably no better way than making a tool board with individual holders for the tools. Though this might sound a bit labour intensive at first, it will really incrase your workflow and you will finally be able to just grab what ever tool you need without searching, looking and swearing.

    Nice and simple. Hadn't thought of just using a dowel instead of matching the plane's contour with the holder.

    Simple and functional, I like it. Also really cool idea with Plexiglas for the bandsaw cover.

      Thanks! The bandsaw is a really nice cast iron one with cast aluminium wheels. So that rickety plastic housing had to go to expose the beauty :)

      +Cosmas B What sort of motor is on it? It sounds high pitched.

    • @CosmasBauer
      @CosmasBauer  Před 8 lety

      It should is a 6-pole induction motor running at 940 rpm on 50Hz. The resulting blade speed is about 12 m/s. The high pitch is probably a result of the footage beeing sped up twice.

    I've been looking for a practical and simple solution to store my hand plane(s) and this fits the bill just perfectly.

    Really good vid, love your tidy tool holders. Well after purchasing a Festool Kapex, just had to clean up my workshop. Will follow up on your tool holders tomorrow in my workshop. Thanks for a common sense approach to making good holders. Danke Schoen . From across the pond over on the Nord Est Coast, England. Cheers.

    Nice and simple. I like the way the plane's blade is not touching the holder.

    I like the dowels, you don't have to cheat like I did with a magnet. Nice efficient board, no French cleat for every single tool silliness.

    I've just moved home and gone from a leaky packed shed to secure large garage and I've got a lot of tools to put back up..... I might take your ideas for my tools if you don't mind 👍🏼😊
