- Hiking the Israel National Trail - Day 1
The Adventure Begins 😊😊😊
Me and Di are hiking the Israel National Trail, a 1015km trail that goes straight through the heart of Israel. We are wild camping where we can and we’re heading south to north.
This is a daily Vlog series of our hiking adventure and I’m editing and uploading on the trail as I go along. I only have basic equipment (my phone) so apologies if the audio isn’t great in places. I’m just working with what I have.
Day 1 was a tough one but a very fun one, very mountainous and a lot of rock scrambling. We hiked about 4 miles from our hostel in Eilat to the start of the trail and then 9.3 miles to the Mt Yehoram night camp. 13.3 miles total for the day.

I've watched many INT videos but this is the best for seeing what the actual trail looks like, from the start by Eilat, the steep inclines and scrambling, and the metal climbing holds and ladders. Great job!
Thank you 👍🏼 that was the goal of these videos, to show what the trail was like and to give some information about it. Thanks for watching.
Nice job on the full trek. Researching for highlights of the trail or even possibly a speedrun of the full thing thanks.
Thanks Kraig. That sounds awesome, I plan to speed hike this trail in the future also. North to south. It is an incredible trail to hike.
The trial passes right under my house, be sure to let us know when ur doing it so I can take some paparazzi shots of you hahaha
Thats some tough terrain. Decided to jump back and watch this series from the start! I've missed quite a few episodes. And I'll remember to hit the like button this time too!
It was definitely tough but it was so worth it, the landscapes and scenery were breathtaking. Hope you enjoy catching up and thank you for the support 👍🏼🙏🏻
my lazy bum is so glad to have this pop up and I can enjoy your trek from the beginning. Yikes I didn't know the travails you faced early on with the climbing, but what a view at Mt. Yehoram.
Cheers. One Love from Boca. W
This trail was hardcore from the start, it was straight into elevation and it just keeps getting tougher with some crazy scrambling coming up. It’s cool to have these videos for me and Di aswell to remind us what we went through. Enjoy my friend 👍🏼😊
I just finished most of the Israel National trail about 3 weeks ago. I was at the head of the pack this year. But there were a couple of portions I wasn't able to do due to timing issues and life. Can't wait to get back and I can't wait to follow your journey
Cool congrats on finishing most of the trail, it is an epic trail to hike. We are enjoying every mile of it 😊 hope you enjoy our experiences with the trail 👍🏼
Eitan...I just saw this comment now, but I'm Di and I messaged in the int English WhatsApp and you replied a few times with updated info as you were just ahead of us! Good luck finishing next year...the end isn't Dan anymore, it changed this month to Mt Hermon!
So cool you found our vlog randomly!
Scenery is breathtaking here my friend. Absolutely majestic work. You presented this brilliantly!
Thank you 💚👌🏼
Nice one buddy! At around 2:15 you can also see Saudi Arabia off in the distance to the southeast. I was there in March as well and it reached 38° at one point. Brutal.
Also, I wish I'd known about that campground having water!
It was awesome to see the landscape from up high. The heat was one of the biggest challenges in this hike.
A lot of the campgrounds in the Negev desert now have water. There are big water tanks underground that the IDF fill up every couple of weeks or so. The compost toilets were a surprise for us. Many of the campgrounds had them too, wasn’t expecting such luxury in the desert 😊
Oh I’ve so enjoyed watching you and Dia hiking threw Israel I haven’t finished yet but I’m now on day 24.
Thank you for sharing your adventure with me.
Glad you’re enjoying our Israel adventure 😊 we really enjoyed exploring Israel and hiking this trail was a great way to do it. Lots of challenges along the way but an incredible experience, hope you enjoy the rest of the adventure and thanks for watching 👍🏼
What a wonderful channel! I hope you had a great time in Israel ❤ Thank you for visiting
My time in Israel was amazing, an incredible country with incredibly friendly people 😊 I’ll definitely be visiting again. An unforgettable hike 😊 thanks for checking out my channel 👍🏼
My group is about 2 weeks ahead of you. The first day to me was the hardest and I know you have to use both hands in a lot of places, especially before the wadi! Blew my knee out on Mt Amasa, so had to come home, (US) going back next year to finish. Best of luck I’ll be watching all your videos!
Oh no sorry to hear your injury stopped your hike, must of been tough. You really get thrown in at the deep end with this trail and as you know the first day is really tough. Thanks for the support 👍🏼 hope you finish the trail later this year.
You have a subscriber 👍, just started watching Isreal films, great pal 👍
Thanks Mark 👍🏼 that means a lot and welcome aboard. Always nice to meet with another hiking 😊 the Israel trail is the hardest hike I have done so far and the most beautiful. Hope you enjoy 👍🏼
That looks like great fun mate. Stunning views and you pretty much had the trail to yourself by the looks if it. Are those campsites free?
Yeah we didn’t see any hikers until we got to camp. The scrambling was a lot of fun 😊 So the Negev Desert is a nature reserve and you are only allowed to camp in designated night spots. Most of them are free and most have water and some also have a compost toilet. A few of them you have to pay a fee but they will be more of a traditional camp site with showers aswell.
Stunning video footage, I will be following your trek, thank you for sharing your hiking experience with us, loved it.
Thank you 😊 day 2 will be coming very soon. Tough to edit and upload in the desert 😊
Good going Ryan - I never saw these uploads. What a fantastic desert trail - a decent spot of scrambling there. Love them gorges and Wadi's. Well, I'll be watching a few now. All the best. Mark
Cheers Mark. The Israel trail is something else. The Negev desert is Beautiful and the trail is a tough one. But we are having a lot of fun 😊
@@RyansNextAdventure A pleasure Ryan. Good to see you out with your partner. Yeah, it looks awesome. I have the others saved. Peace.
Great video Ryan.
Cheers bro 👍🏼😊
Nice one! Didn’t even know there was a trail here!
The Israel trail is beautiful, I’m happy you now know there’s a trail 😊
man mashallah how beautiful falestine trails are
The Negev desert was beautiful, I hope the region can find peace 💚
do you guys carry any rope to help climb???
No I’ve never carried rope when hiking before (wouldn’t know what to do with it) The Israel trail is an established hike, so no need to carry rope. On the climby sections there are ladders and lots of very good hand holds where needed to help on the route.
Do you know if its possible to hike it now (because of the current conflict)?
I know a few people that started hiking the Israel Trail just before the conflict. But they left the country when the conflict started. I think it’s possible to hike the trail at the moment but probably not a good idea to. Hopefully the situation settles down for people to hike the trail again in spring. Are you planning to hike the Israel Trail?
Well done Ryan - I know it’s hiking with Ryan but can I request a hiking with do every so often to see her perspective?
😂 I keep saying to her she should start her own channel
