Oh yeah! Our family used to have one just like it. My dad used regular motor oil in the gas instead of 2-stroke oil so it used to leave a blue cloud behind it. I operated this myself when I was about 7 years old.
That would keep it well lubricated! Try that today and you’d have the EPA knocking at your door hahahaha!

Always wanted to see a 50s-60s lawnmower, slightly disappointing that it lacks any tail finds but very cool looking regardless heh

Cool old mower they don’t make them like that anymore. Now it’s all plastic.
Really cheap lawnmower’s still require you to unbolt the wheel to adjust height
i have one of these 1hp power products engines Aswell. they require 16-1 gas mixed with Sae 30 motor oil you will kill it if you run anything else the old lawn boys are the same way.
You can fog for mosquitos while mowing the lawn!!! But they certainly stand the test of time.

I have a Clinton 2 stroke on a mower and I use a 16/1 oil ratio. I used to use non detergent 30wt as oil but switched to normal 2 stroke oil and it runs fine.
Also don’t use starting fluid on a 2 stroke. If that stuff detonates inside the crankcase you’ll have a big grenade. Happened a lot on early experimental 2 strokes. Stay safe!

Dirty points.
Even with a lighter engine and aluminum deck at that thickness the mower would be heavy. Not to mention the exhaust was truly awful. You have to remember that back then they were burning leaded gas. They don’t make them like they used to, and that isn’t always a bad thing.
I get the nostalgia and attachment to a family heirloom, but yikes!
