    I have new strips from the previous owner, they look like the original latex or maybe they are neoprene. The old ones anyway look ok except for some small portions where the gloss is gone and small bits are missing. there are also the two small strips at the front of the doors which I don’t have spares for, but I managed to repair them. they had a steel band for rigidity inside but was all crumbled rust :) I cleaned the rust thoroughly and inserted an aluminum V stip, tabs, then repaired the rubber using Black Seam sealer (PU), which polished looks like rubber. It turned out well, otherwise it would cost $90+ for a pair.

    5:30 Do yourself a favor and buy a trim kit which has all those black plastic tabs and connectors in various sizes, plus it looks better to replace with new plastic with new weatherstrip or other components.
    Also good to have a ton of black trim screws of differing varieties. No sense putting rusted screws back in!

    Why can't you use a thin bead of silicone down each track? Seems like it would be much more resistant to weather.

      I have never tried it, it is possible you could use rtv I am not sure how compatible it is with the weather stripping.

    Good Job. I just did my B pillar. Passenger side went perfect but driver side not as good. When I roll up the window, the glass does not sit in that pocket correctly. Look like its not lining up properly. Did you have that same issue?

    When you were replacing the A pillar, how did you start it? The same as the B? Put the one side into the grove then come at it from the other side? I really didn’t get to see a good shot of you doing that. Thanks for the video it’s helped me a ton

      I have the same issue with mine, but mine are "cut order" actual rubber weatherstrips, it does help keep water out, but until they soften up a bit, it doesn't hurt anything.

    • @thomasahern9094
      @thomasahern9094 Před 2 lety +2

      mine were "cut 2 order" i meant. they just need to soften up a bit, the rear glass is still sealed but really hard to close.

      @@UN4SS1GN3D I had found out the company i purchased my weatherstrip from had inaccurate measurements compared to the oem rubber. I bought a new one from amazon from a different seller and with some tilt adjustments it rolls up and down nice now! I also do use silicone grease to prevent it from drying out and cracking.
