Love your videos as they are very informative and interesting. You have great kami's making your khukuris also. You also have a great selection. I like the fact that you are in the States too. Could you possibly have a scabbard made where it is stitched up on the side where you can flip the frog around for a lefty. I have one from Barun that is made this way and is just awesome. Thank you and have a wonderful life.
As of this Thursday April 29th 2021, the country of Nepal has implemented another closure due to the increase cases of the Covid Virus and with what is occurring with their neighbors in India. This closure is being placed for the next two weeks. I have been in contact with Raju, Barun and Neem regarding any potential impact this may have on completing the open orders. Thus far there should be no direct impact on their ability to keep working. The orders that have been completed there was an attempt to ship them to me before the closure took effect. One small shipment has arrived a couple others I’m waiting to see if they made it out before the shutdown took effect. If not those shipments are being held with DHL or at the blacksmiths shops ready to go once the closure is lifted. I will provide updates as I receive updates. Thank you everybody for your patience during these difficult times. Please keep the blacksmiths, their families and the nations of Nepal and India in your thoughts and prayers. Namaste 🙏
Thank you for your question. Yes absolutely I have used baby oil on my scabbards in the past. Pretty much just about most oils are better applied than no oil at all for the maintenance of your handles and scabbards. With that being said. I now use oils that are more specific and conducive for my scabbards and wood handles specifically. Mink oil and Neatsfoot oil are best for leather products because of their longevity and element resistance while maintaining the integrity of the leather. Linseed oil and bees wax for my wood handles for much of the same reasons. The oil nourishes the wood minimizing shrinkage and expansion which adds stress to the wood while adding protection from environmental conditions.
