Tool is my favorite band of all time. I remember seeing the music video for Prison Sex and Sober when I was 7 and didn’t realize it was Tool until middle school. My number band I still need to see live. I’m going to do my ranking and I’m going to include other albums. 1. Aenema (This is my favorite album of all time... I love the theme, the aggression, the dread, the trippyness, and so much more). I can literally talk forever about this album... favorite songs are H., 46 & 2, Jimmy, and Pushit. 2. Lateralus (This album is magnificent... one of my desert island cds... this album made me cry in how well it is written). My favorite songs are The Grudge, Schism, Parabol/Parabola. Parabola has my favorite lyric too. Also Lateralus has the best interlude tracks ... Eon Blue Apocalypse... come the fuck on lol 3. 10000 Days... I had a friend who downloaded the album before it came out and I cartoonishly jumped through everyone to listen to it because I was stupid hyped for it. I bought it the day it came out. I love the packaging of the album with the 3D eyes and trippy Alex Grey artwork. 10000 Days (Wings for Marie) made me cry because this isn’t the first song he wrote for his mom (A Perfect Circle “Judith” and I think there is another one). My favorite songs... fuck... Vicarious, Jambi, Right In Two 4. Undertow (it is more grungy but it is still fantastic) my first Tool album I ever heard. Favorite songs are Sober, Prison Sex, Swamp Song, and 4 Degrees. 5. Fear Inoculum... while it is a good album I didn’t like it as much as I was hoping. Fear Inoculum is an amazing song, so is Pneuma and 7empest. I was on deployment last year when it came out and when we hit port I instantly got it. I saw on CZcams during deployment that they had a new song and I waited forever for the computer to load up the video so I can hear and bask in the song I’ve been waiting for 13 years to hear. 6. Opiate... it’s good but one I listen to the least. I know it’s an EP but it’s their first. Honorable mention: Salival. It has the best version of Pushit in my opinion... and Maynard’s Dick song is funny. They also covered Led Zeppelin’s No Quarter and you would never know it was a Led Zeppelin cover. Tool is incredible. So is A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. Good shit my dude

Here's my ranking: The bottom 5 are all great, I just have to be in the right mood to listen to them. The top 2 I can listen to any time whenever. 5. Undertow By far their heaviest album. It's got short, catchy songs. It's awesome. I agree with you, I just prefer the more progressive and experimental stuff. 4. Ænima Super angry and heavy, but it still has some of the great softer moments. Eulogy is amazing. It's just sometimes a little too explicit for my tastes. Still a masterpiece. 3. 10,000 Days The title track is one of their best songs. The first half is really heavy and dark (although Wings pt 1 and 2 are a little softer), but the last few songs are much more introspective. It's great, but there are a few songs that don't stand out to me. If it weren't for 10,000 Days it would probably be 4 or 5, but that song is one of their best. 2. Fear Inoculum The interludes are probably their worst (actually I don't love the ones on Ænima either tbh). I also don't get the hype for Pneuma. That's the only song that feels too long and drawn out to me. It really drags in the middle with the synth solo. Other than that song, the rest of the album is perfect! Fear Inoculum has such a cool atmosphere with all of the percussion and the bass riffs. Invincible is very emotional too. Culling Voices is super creepy and heavy. 7empest feels like a storm. The first 5 minutes are super heavy, and the last 10 minutes or so are just the fallout of that. Perfectly crafted epic imo. My favorite track is probably Descending though. The way it builds in the first few minutes is beautiful. And how they just explode into that last chorus is one of my favorite moments in music ever! The lyrics are also amazing, and honestly what we need in crazy times like what the world is going through right now. Just wish there was a little more Maynard in the second half, but I do enjoy the instrumental. 1. Lateralus One of the few albums I can call perfect. Everything works together so well. The music and the lyrics are joined perfectly, and the journey throughout the whole thing is just magnificent. It has no bad songs. Even the interludes fit perfectly. I honestly can't explain everything I love about this album. It is truly a masterpiece.

Gotta get to My Ranking. 5: 10,000 Days (I like the Album, but I do find it Bland Sometimes) 4: Fear Inoculum (This actually got Me into Tool, it may not be aggressive like others, but I still love all of the Songs) 3: Undertow (I orginally had this Dead Last, but I listened to it again and found the Sweet Spot. I Love almost every Song, but why does Disgustipated exist?) 2: Lateralus (Now it's back up to Number 2) 1: Ænima (Do I need to Explain?) Number 1 for Real: OPIATE This is a HEAVY EP, I Love every single Song on this EP.

Tool are probably my favourite band currently, but I do have a controversial (I feel) ranking of their albums. 5. Undertow - 8/10 Solid metal album that I enjoy listening to. It's just this low because I prefer the spirituality and progressive elements that would later come into the fold of the band's music. 4. 10,000 Days - ?/10 This is a weird one. The first five tracks I all give a 10/10 too, but I am really struggling to connect with the rest of the album currently. Maybe it just needs more time and listens. 3. Aenima 9.5 - 10/10 These next three I love a lot, but to me there is a clear path as to which I like more currently. Nothing wrong with this album at all. Third Eye is an incredible progressive song, Hooker with a Penis is an incredible song about the music industry, not to mention that Eulogy, Forty-Six and Two, and the title track are also awesome. Incredible album all round. 2. Fear Innoculum 9.5 - 10/10 This is one that really had to grow on me to love it as much as I do (have hopes for 10,000 Days as such). Only listened to the 7 track disc release of the album, so I haven't heard all of the interludes to it, but I love the version that I have heard. All of the 10 minute tracks are incredible and I adore them, some more than others but still. I think this one is so high purely because of the mind blowing 7empest, which is a perfect 16 minute soundtrack to the recent Russia and Ukraine war. 1. Lateralus 10/10 What is there to say about this one that hasn't been said already? A perfect album about the concept of humanity, what it means to be human, and how to achieve greatness in life. Schism, Lateralus, Parabola... all amazing incredible songs. Reflection is my all time favourite song by the band, and has helped me with mental health issues. Love this band and their music to pieces.
@@citizena1495 oof 10k at the bottom now haha, the one problem with that album is I always want to listen to it start to finish without interruption and can't always find the time. I think I'd put Aenima higher but I played it so much when I got into the band that it's effected how I hear it now I guess.
6.- Opiate, Don't even remember when was the last time I listened to Opiate being honest. 5.-10,000 Days, Rosetta Stoned and Right In Two are awesome but outside Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman) all the interludes are awful. 4.-Fear Innoculum, Nice songs but nothing exceptional. 3.-Undertow, The first three tracks are incredible. Bottom kinda ruins it but it recovers quickly in Crawl Away. 2.-Lateralus, The track list is incredible as long as you don't listen Faaip De Oiad at max volume. 1.-Ænima, That transition from Intermission into Jimmy...

I havent't heard undertow but the ranking of the four is exactly same as you. 10000 days used to be my favorite the time I discovered tool. and i'm not big fan of fear inoculum, pneuma and 7empest are the only tracks I love.
The first 3 albums were great , I count Opiate as an album it cost as much in the 90's. Everything after is just Lateralus 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0. Maynard is a neat dude real humble. Danny Carey is a beast and his side project Zaum was nuts. Edit: I like the last 3 aswell but they just sound the same. Saw Tool for the Laturalus tour in the ealy 2000s Meshugga opened and if that wasn't fricken awesome.

My list is unpopular but, eh take what you can get. 5. Undertow 9/10 When the bottom is a 9, you know you're getting into some good shit. Tool at there most raw 4. Ænima 9/10 It feels almost like comedy at times with Hooker With A Penis and Die Eier Von Satan. Amazing nonetheless. Tool at there most funny 3. Fear Incoulum 9.5/10 The 10,000 days curse broke and I'm very happy with the results. It feels the most experimental out of all of them. Tool at there most weird. 2. Lateralus 10/10 I do feel as this album is a tad overrated. Sure there's your Parabolas, Schisms, and your Lateraluses, but every now and then you'll have your Grudges, Ticks, and Leeches. Tool at there most mind-melting. 1. 10,000 Days 10/10 This is my favorite album mostly because they're isn't really any filler, and it's so damn well sequenced! And it has some of Tool's best, with the title track, The Three Radio Singles, Rosetta Stoned, Right In Two, Right in Two especially, that's an amazing song. Tool at there most conceptual.

I did love Tool as a teenager, but my affection didn't survive into adulthood for whatever reason. I recently went back and gave all their other records a careful listen. Kinda dull to me. Even Aenima and Lateralus, despite having some incredible moments, just bore me to tears. I was surprised at the ho-hum reaction Fear Inoculum got among fans. Some found it boring? I found it deeply engaging from start to finish! The big obvious crescendos and cringe lyrics that bugged me about their earlier stuff? Gone, FINALLY! Anyway, just my two cents as an outsider.

I think I'd put Aenima higher but I played it so much when I got into the band that it's effected how I hear it now I guess.

6.- Opiate, Don't even remember when was the last time I listened to Opiate being honest.
5.-10,000 Days, Rosetta Stoned and Right In Two are awesome but outside Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman) all the interludes are awful.
4.-Fear Innoculum, Nice songs but nothing exceptional.
3.-Undertow, The first three tracks are incredible. Bottom kinda ruins it but it recovers quickly in Crawl Away.
2.-Lateralus, The track list is incredible as long as you don't listen Faaip De Oiad at max volume.
1.-Ænima, That transition from Intermission into Jimmy...
I would put Lateralus over Aenima cause its more epic and progressive

I havent't heard undertow but the ranking of the four is exactly same as you. 10000 days used to be my favorite the time I discovered tool. and i'm not big fan of fear inoculum, pneuma and 7empest are the only tracks I love.

The first 3 albums were great , I count Opiate as an album it cost as much in the 90's. Everything after is just Lateralus 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0. Maynard is a neat dude real humble. Danny Carey is a beast and his side project Zaum was nuts.
Edit: I like the last 3 aswell but they just sound the same.
Saw Tool for the Laturalus tour in the ealy 2000s Meshugga opened and if that wasn't fricken awesome.

It feels almost like comedy at times with Hooker With A Penis and Die Eier Von Satan. Amazing nonetheless. Tool at there most funny

The 10,000 days curse broke and I'm very happy with the results. It feels the most experimental out of all of them. Tool at there most weird.

I do feel as this album is a tad overrated. Sure there's your Parabolas, Schisms, and your Lateraluses, but every now and then you'll have your Grudges, Ticks, and Leeches. Tool at there most mind-melting.

This is my favorite album mostly because they're isn't really any filler, and it's so damn well sequenced! And it has some of Tool's best, with the title track, The Three Radio Singles, Rosetta Stoned, Right In Two, Right in Two especially, that's an amazing song. Tool at there most conceptual.

I don't care for this band but Fear Inoculum really blew me away! I did love Tool as a teenager, but my affection didn't survive into adulthood for whatever reason. I recently went back and gave all their other records a careful listen. Kinda dull to me. Even Aenima and Lateralus, despite having some incredible moments, just bore me to tears. I was surprised at the ho-hum reaction Fear Inoculum got among fans. Some found it boring? I found it deeply engaging from start to finish! The big obvious crescendos and cringe lyrics that bugged me about their earlier stuff? Gone, FINALLY! Anyway, just my two cents as an outsider.
Undertow is GOAT.
