Another interesting anecdote for you madam, it is : Arthur Conan Doyle had a professor called Dr Joseph Bell, his description was similar to Sherlock Holmes description, Arthur Doyle was so impressed by his prof that Sherlock resembled him, the long hooked nose, tall stature etc. Dr Watson is the description of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle himself. One day Prof. Joseph Bell said that he would demonstrate an experiment and his students should do what he did. He took a terrible smelly fluid put one of his fingers in that fluid and licked it. His students were disgusted but one by one put their finger in and licked that terrible smelly fluid. Dr Bell told them, "you are tested for your observation skills which is very important for medical students, I stuck my middle finger but licked my forefinger, you didn't observe me properly". Observation is one skill that distinguishes Sherlock Holmes from others, he was inspired by his prof. Dr Joseph Bell.
