Is APPLE LOG worth buying IPHONE 15 PRO for?

- I have been dying to test out Apple Log but I had to buy the Iphone 15 Pro or Pro Max to get it. Even at second hand prices it's a lot of money to spend so the big question is...was it worth the money? Enjoy!

As a primary user of both the Samsung S22 and S23 Ultra and very soon the S24 Ultra for all my films I can really appreciate what Apple has brought to the table for smartphone filmmaking.
Yeah it’s really fun to see how smartphone filmmaking has developed over the years. Wonder what the next significant upgrade will be.
@@SmartphoneFilmmaker I'm a very heavy user of the DOF adapter. I have 2 from Beastgrip, 1 from Ulanzi and the new model Beastgrip ordered. If that can get perfected even more. Better optics, stabilization more improved light to the sensor for better low light , less chromatic aberration we will truly have something very special available to us.

I heard to get the log look on samsung phones on the native camera is pull contrast, shadows and highlights down to zero but thats only on 1080p. Is there any video app that gives me this option?
Thank you: your explanations are very clear. I would love to hear you discuss the effect that the H.265 codec has on editing software.
My experience is that the codec puts so many demands on computer processors just to render the image that when you put it in an editing suite, it becomes super choppy and difficult to edit. And ghod forbid you put any effects on that image; it'll really cause your editor to chug.
Of course, perhaps your experience is different or you have some tips for overcoming this! Thanks again.
That is pretty much my exact experience with H.265. It adds hours to my editing. Since getting the 15 pro and using Pro Res the experience is sooooo much smoother!
Great video, I upgraded to 15 pro for this. I would be keen to see your comparison of ProRes LT v .265 in log and is it worth the space saving?

In Apple log, the highlights at 5:49 look clipped and the transition around them look very weird. Maybe the footage was over exposed I don't know.
Yes in the top windows for sure but the sunlight was beaming through that area. Ideally indoors would've been brighter to add an ND filter perhaps. I am definitely in a learning curve when it comes to exposure for LOG in various light condition. Thanks for watching.
Nice comparison, I've watched a few side-by-sides for apple log and this showed the important stuff very well. How does Apple Log stack up against an app like Motion Cam shooting raw?

@@SmartphoneFilmmaker I don't think it's gotten popular yet because it is such a specialized tool. Haha I mean most people don't shoot raw on their regular cameras, much less their phone 😅 but the app is maturing a lot, excited to see where it goes.
Interesting you are using ProRes LT. You are the first person I think I have seen using LT. How does it compare to ProRes standard and of course H264?
LT takes up more storage than H264 and slightly less than the standard pro res. It also give you more natural looking colours too. Will have to do a comparison with each Pro res side by side at some point though.

Existing hardware since the iPhone X cannot solve the lens flare problem.As long as it continues to replicate and display ridiculous lights at night, it will continue to be the worst camera phone
Yeah lens flares can be a huge pain that's for sure. They can look great but also can look real ugly and distracting.
