- The Eastern Redbud is one of my favorite spring-blooming trees! 💖
🌳 20-25’ tall, 30-35’ wide
🌳 Favorite of honeybees & butterflies
🌳Zone 4-9
🌳Adaptable to a wide range of growing conditions. Handles our high pH & hot, dry summers like a boss!
🌳 Extremely low maintenance
🌳 Rosy pink spring blooms, heart shaped green leaves, yellow fall color.
When my husbands brother was killed in a plane crash, these trees were in bloom, and someone gifted us one in his memory. We enjoyed it for many years but then we moved. We collected some of its seed pods and have been successful in getting several trees to grow, but they have yet to bloom. They’re very young, but we are encouraged they are alive and growing! They are our favorite spring blooming tree too! 💜
I have one as a memorial tree for my brother and mom who both passed in 2020 and I could have a service for them. I am so sorry about your brother-in-law.
Love, love, love this tree - definately a Spring gift😂❤! Beautiful specimen;)
Love Redbuds! We have a ton of wild grown Eastern Redbuds and they are putting in a show. I even planted a Forest Pansy this year! Gorgeous!!! 😍
I LOVE using shorts to showcase a tree/plant! Bookmarking this in my plants playlist!
Wow even on the trunk. Gorgeous
Gorgeous! There’s also the Western Redbud - same but native to west. Young, red branch shoots highly valued by native basket weavers.
I have ordered 6 from my states conservation program! Can't wait for them to come in this week!!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
When we moved to PA I was so excited to see the red buds in bloom wildly along the wood lines. It’s just so special to see their contrast against the new leaf buds of other trees.
These grow wild all up and down the interstates in Ky. We have a weeping red bud that is gorgeous.
It’s a lovely tree. I’d line my driveway with them 🩷
I just bought my 3rd eastern redbud today! They are the best!
Wonderful redbud . I love redbud tree its so pretty and I will plant the white flowers of it . 🌺🌻🌺
It is Gorgeous but I’m zone 3 so I’ll just have to love it in Laura’s garden.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Wow you truly bring beauty to our planet! Thank you for your work.
lpve these trees. our state is littered with these trees. it's gorgeous in the spring time. Mark Twain National Forest is full of Redbuds and Dogwoods. ❤ I love when someone marries a white and a pink tree and they bloom together.
Cercis canadensis. 😊❤ First to bloom in Georgia too!
Beautiful!
They are blooming here too!
My favorite tree!!
Love it!❤
Nádherné ...máš krásnu záhradu ...vždy sa tesim na videá
I have literally hundreds of these on my property in western NY, so many I’m constantly tearing them out to thin them and keep the others healthy!! They are absolutely beautiful and under rated as both visual/floral and structural interest for sure. When they’re in spring bloom they’re like a cloud of soft lavender overshadowing the whole yard ❤
Flower garden.. Beautiful.. 😊😊
Redbud is my favorite tree!
My Redbud is just about to pop and I can’t wait! We have had a wet spring and it’s making my tree so happy! I think this will be the best bloom ever! Peace and blessings 💖
I love the Redbud tree or Judas tree ......a sure sign of spring 🌼
Laura, you are so right about the carefree Eastern Redbird. We have a 50 year old Redbird that has gifted us with many young beautiful Redbuds throughout the property. I collect the peapod like seed pods and plant them in pots as well. The Swallowtail butterflies love the Spring blooms.
Blessings and love. Sherry 🥰 🙏 💞
That's Eastern 'Redbud'.
Do you find that they drop a lot of leaves in the fall?
@@candma4240After a beautiful fall foliage display, the Redbud sheds its heart shaped leaves gradually. If the tree is healthy and not too deep in the ground or over watered - the leaves fall but disintegrate quickly. Watch for insect pests on the underside of the leaves and dispose so as not to overwinter the larvae. Did you know that the American Eastern Redbud belongs to the pea family. Check out the seed-pods. You can also train the tree when young - by light pruning for a graceful shape. A gorgeous tree.
Hah! I was just posting to inquire about growing them in a pot. It would be long term so I'm curious.
@@amyhendricks3627 I wasn't sure if you were asking me or Laura, but I've got several growing in very deep pots that I planted from seed about 10 years ago. The squirrels planted them in my pots and 5 gallon buckets as well. Eventually, they'll need larger pots or planted in the ground. I have to say that they're pretty hardy. Good luck.
Es muy bello
Just Amazing! 👍👍👍
We have 2 here in North Carolina. I also love them and yes it says spring along with all my daffodil bulbs, then tulips.
It is the state tree of Oklahoma (where I am these days). I have seen recipes posted for making redbud flower jelly. Have you ever heard of that? I had not, but would like to try it.
They grow wild here, I have many and love them!
Can you just imagine here in Pa. We have a forest of red bud in the early spring, what a beautiful sight
GLORIOUS DISPLAY
Love you, ❤️ watch you every day.
I planted two in 2021. They're just starting to bloom. Such a treat
My favorite tree, I have a few of them! I'm also growing a little sapling from one of my treess in a pot until I can replant it in the garden in a spot where I'd like another one. They are so beautiful in spring , gorgeous yellow leaves in fall too.
I have seen that the flowers are edible and you can make jelly! Ours are past blooming in Alabama now. But I want to try jelly next year!
My favorite tree, we have lots of them on our property, they pop up everywhere. They are brilliant when in bloom and last a while. Not too large, I just love them!
I just planted a Forest Pansy redbud last October and it’s putting on quite the show with its beautiful purple pink blooms! When you say they pop up everywhere, have you been successful at pulling and planting the volunteer seedlings 🌱 in pots and roughly how many volunteers should I expect to see? Is it a lot or just a couple?
@@jaisarowe5285 yes I do transplant them. They have flat pods, with their seeds, a friend used to come gather these, so I think they must be easy to grow from seed. I see quite a few pop up, maybe a dozen from each tree. My redbuds are Eastern Redbud.
@@pixelkitty2583 Oh wow…good to know…just learned something new…thanks! I’ll be on the lookout for some seedlings then. 😊
Beautiful
Here in Texas, we love our redbuds too! First sign of spring!
I ❤ these trees. They grow wild in my area (TN).
Great idea to group them together.
Very very beautiful 🥰🤩🤗
I love this . Wow
So gorgeous. Wish I had one. ❤
Such a beauty
🌳
This is still one of my favorite garden spot on GA.
Beautiful. Question: I’m up in BC zone 8b and ours are just starting to come into bud. Even my Merlot redbud is way behind yours. Why are they slower to pop than lower zones? ❤ 🍀🇨🇦
My guess is that they like cool weather/a winter dormant period. They get a clear indication to wake up when the temps change.
I have one very big! And next to it there is a pear tree who complement each other with the mix of pink and white!!! They grow beautiful in TX. I enjoy it every year it's amazing!!!! And yes ....🐝🐝🐝🐝love them
Beautiful! 🌳🩷
Soo lovely ❤❤
Spectacular ❤
Gorgeous ❤
Redbuds in Texas were some of the few flowers in our yard. ❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful garden 🙏
Gorgeous 😍
I love it❤
Awesome ❤👍😀
Love these Trees! I plan to get two, one for my front, and one for the backyard.
Beautiful tree🎉
Beautiful tree♥️
Lovely❤
I love ❤️ ❤❤❤
Beautiful just like you⚘️
I have tons on my property here in Georgia. Their everywhere here and I love them. ❤😊
💜
I love them and over the years have purchased 2. The first one did bloom ( this was back when I could drag a hose down to it) but was blown over in a storm one year. The second has never bloomed. It hardly rains at all here from the 4th of July to late September and I think that must be when it sets buds so I can’t drag the hose out there anymore and the tree has survived the yearly drought but no flowers. Next house is going to be on a flat piece of land so I’m not dealing with a hillside anymore. 😊
Red buds are the best
Wow!!!
I just planted one!
I love the forest pansy redbud tree it's leaves turn a beautiful burgundy color and are in the shape of a heart! I have a weeping redbud and it's so pretty 😍
The blooms on the trunk! Soo pretty 😍
I'll be driving around my Cleveland Ohio zone 6b area, looking at the beautiful redbud trees! If a tree dies in my yard, the redbud would be considered as a replacement. We have a LOT of trees!
Hiya Laura, the first plant I saw walking into my garden center...YEAaaas, SHOW OFF....AND home it came with me!!
I have just planted 2 Cercis Chinensis trees as I have a small garden which suits with their shorter height growth. One is Avondale and the other is Faerie Queen. I can't wait until Spring comes about in September (in Australia) to see the pretty coloured peapod flowers!
Wow hermosos
I love them also. I had 5 of them. One spring 4 years ago we had a bad storm and blew in a bug that kill all my redbuds
Beautifull tree
I live in Ohio and have these beautiful trees growing in my backyard
B E A U T I F U L. !!!!!!!
That is lovely. The ones we have had were all volunteers.
You can make jelly from the flowers. It’s a beautiful lavender hue
They line our streets and freeways in Atlanta, GA ❤
They're also a nitrogen fixer.
Have 3,Beautiful
This is in my front yard 🤩🥰
Love this tree! I had the "Forest Pansy" version in my garden. Sadly it got verticillium wilt and died.
We have a taller redbud tree that requires maintenance because every year another branch dies ans need cut out. It use to be 3 trunk but now it's 2 trunk.
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Pink 😊
Lovely ❤️ iam fan of you 😮
I just love these trees and because they are only in bloom for a brief period, adds to how much I love these.
You mentioned how easy they are to care for, I am curious as I've noticed in some neighbor yards where they have much older Red Bud trees where the flowers are sparse and appear to only grow on the tips of the branch. It makes me curious on why that happens and if pruning would encourage new growth
I love these, but I live in Georgia where, when these reach maturity, they start to split. Not sure if it's because of our humidity, but these tend not to last in our area. Absolutely stunning though! I'm going to try and plant one in a shaded area in my garden and hope for the best!
Good
👌
I feel like this short video is going to be part of April garden tour!!
Make great jelly too
Love It Mexican Cuaresma Tree 😍🩷
I think this is part of the April Garden Tour. Cant wait. Monday's Video?
I seen one off the interstate in Tampa this morning ,it was huge.
