Usual indian mentality, when cars first came in we tried to protect Tangas , when computers came we tried to protect receptionists, clerks etc. In the end, you can't fight convenience and customers will make choices that are beneficial to them. If there is large scale predatory pricing, you should prosecute it. In the end, yes some corner stores will close. Offline stores will have to provide new experiences catering to kids or groups of friends etc to bring in customers beyond just their usual service.

Yea, increase taxes and blame e-commerce for being unable to create jobs... That's what happens when you have 60-to 80 years olds trying to plan the future of the youth. Why is it only 7% pay income tax? Why is it that corporates and businesses have tax consession? Why is it that 90% don't contribute? Increase GST to 30% and eradicate income tax. Keep expenses the same for every Indian. Why should Punjab, Delhi, Bihar, UP get free electricity upto 300 units? Why should Mumbai, Goa, Hydrabad, Pune, Chennai, Kerela, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kolkata, not get the same benefits?

Coz govt only wants vote and UP bihar has more seats. Ppl of north dont want to work just live on money of other states. UP, Bihar gets the highest share of tax payers money in every budget yet last 10yrs contribution of these states is neligible, even the literacy has not increased much.

For people to enjoy going out, the infrastructure must be improved. Corruption has made many cities practically unlivable, turning outings into a hassle. Without proper infrastructure and a culture of respecting traffic rules, people are likely to remain couch potatoes.

Not trusting maket forces is one of the main reason we are still poor. If govt control, rules and regulations was the answer to poverty , India would have been one of the wealthiest countries in the world today

The Govt. Speaks more of everything rather than doing anything better, the corruption is at an all time high every year the bridges fall the roads sucks but the highways are getting better and infra is being developed still unemployment is rising and not declining. The inflation keeps pulling the middle and lower class!

So- called mom & pop stores have been ripping off the customers with high prices for decades. They were also impolite and used to form local cartels and gauge prices. E-Commerce has actually provided much needed competition to the market, which was being ruled by local cartels doing business in cash and not paying appropriate taxes.
This govt has failed the private sector middle class with excessive income tax, punitive GST on essentials like insurance (18% GST) and is now going after E-Commerce firms where most of the middle class shops because of good affordable prices.

Legally they sell the products to their delivery partners, so that becomes B to B. And delivery partners act as a store and they sell to the customers becoming a physical shopkeeper. Loophole of the system 😂

I know Korean investment didn't do much. I know China - despite govt's effort to delink our economy with China - won . I know what e-commerce is doing. What I don't know is what is the government doing to protect the interest of local business ? Yesterday, that IMF lady said we need to create 1.5 crore jobs in just 3 to 5 years - so what is the plan to achieve it? Tax collection is all time high , while this should continue but spending in a wise manner should also be parallely taken up.

the small shops which you are talking are the biggest tax thieves they pay their employees the least because they have no regulation, they are rude, they get annoyed when you see their product but do not buy which is not the case with online retailers. India is the perfect place for e-commerce growth because we have a large population living in a densely populated area, and since infrastructure are not up to the mark to serve such large consumers, safety is not there so online is better where we can enjoy in our home buying at the convenience of our home
