Qatar Is Building A $45 Billion Dollar Megacity

- Qatar is building a $45 billion megacity just north of Doha. Lusail is nearing completion and expected to be ready just in time for World Cup 2022. Qatar is spending $220 billion to host World Cup 2022, so it’s no surprise that the country managed to build a megacity practically overnight. Lusail has some very expensive and unique-looking skyscrapers. The Marina Twin towers skyscraper is a bizarre-looking office building that’s reminiscent of colorful LEGO blocks stacked on top of each other. The $605 million Katara Towers skyscraper project is made up of two curved towers that join together at the base to form a horseshoe shape. When it’s finished in 2022, the skyscraper will have two hotels and hundreds of high-end apartments. The Lusail Plaza Towers project isn’t as far along as the Katara Towers project will consist of two sets of twin towers built on four symmetrical linear podiums. The Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company was just awarded a $526 million contract to build two of the development's four skyscrapers. World Cup 2022 will be held in eight different venues and five different host cities, but Lusail will be the site of both the opening ceremonies and the final match. Both events will be held at the $4 billion Lusail Iconic Stadium which is currently under construction. The 80,000 capacity stadium will be finished just in time for the World Cup, but after the tournament ends there will be further modifications. being a resident in qatar, what it lacks is the wow memorable factor when you get there. no big deal themed parks also

No big deal theme parks? I’m just amazed it has theme parks. I live in a city of 400,000 in New Zealand and it is nothing like Lusail. We have no theme parks, no skyscrapers, our stadium isn’t even big enough for a concert. My city is so boring, Lusail looks amazing! There must be so much stuff to do in that city. If I ever visit it will definitely be a trip of a lifetime and very memorable. I would like to live somewhere like that but it seems very expensive. I mean people are richer in the Arabian peninsula.

They take breaks, living in a great property, taking their salaries, safety is all there, and there’s more for sure. I can see lusail right outside of my house 3 min bike drive 1 min by car I like to call it sky ghost town because when I walk around it’s a ghost town and the clouds are beautiful with the sky scrapers
I'm planning on going next year to the World's Cup if they are open by then. Hopefully, there's no restrictions. I'm staying by the mall in the center of town. I like that area the best.

@@GlobalAdventurer I really recommend you staying in Musherib downtown Doha. Since the main metro station connecting all lines there. So it will be easier for you to ride the metro and where. Lusail city has underground metro as well that connected to Doha

True. The golf course with the silver stadium is in Education City. I live next to it. Lusail is still a huge dust bowl. Most of the green area doesn't exist yet. They are going to have to up the pace to get it done before the WC.

The U.S made it to space 50 years ago though. While Qatar may have all the luxury hotels and resorts but the U.S have made greater feat in ALL aspects than Qatar and have done it since 1792.

There are only 313,000 Qataris so assuming each of their 8 stadiums holds at least 50,000 people, they don't even have enough people to fill those stadiums. And with a total population of just 2.6 million, they don't have enough people for even 1 megacity.
I've thinking about that for such a long time. It doesn't make sense all those things being constructed.

They’re actually building 8 stadiums for fifa 2022. After fifa some stadiums will be dismantled and donated to other countries
the population increasing rapidly literally in 20 years increased 2.3m in 2000 the population was around 600,000.
In addition u can't just separate the citizen from the residents because most of football matches you will notice they are more of none Qataris people. This stadiums were built for everyone lives in Qatar. Moreover some of the stadiums will be donated to other poor countries. Furthermore Qatar will host a lot other sport events in the future such as AFC Asian Cup 2027 and Asian Olympics 2030. And Qatar plans to make Doha and Lusail a tourism destination as well.
therefore this a long term project for 2030 and it's not a 2022 project with a capacity around 400,000 as well

Why not ? Handball and volleyball are both very popular in the Arab world
It’s not the most popular sport, although they did hold an international handball tournament a couple years ago and Qatar are developing themselves to become a country for world class health and sporting facilities. Hope this helps
