    1. There’s nothing wrong with using some subtrim. 2. For equal throw, the servo arm needs to be perpendicular to the pushrod, not the case of the servo. Also, the angle between the hinge line, the hole in the control horn, and the pushrod must be 90 degrees. 3. Increasing the throw by connecting the pushrod closer to the surface can lead to flutter. If you need more throw, use a longer servo arm or increase the travel of the servo. 4. Do not decrease the travel in the transmitter below 100% due to binding. Lengthen the control horn (1st) and/or shorten the servo arm (2nd).

    Always interesting and very helpful. Love your work Michael. Sound is excellent too

    Thank you for the clear explanations; I am currently building my first RC plane from plans and these points will prove very useful. One thing I don't yet understand is RESOLUTION; do you have another video where this is explained?

    • @MichaelWargo
      @MichaelWargo  Před 4 měsíci

      Very simple. Resolution is like the difference between a second hand and hor hand on a watch. The gears are different. LIke a bike in 1st or tenth gear. You want the gears to not move a lot with a little input. They will be fast but no strength. So if you move stick one click, it might move the surface an inch. BUt with good resolution, the gears turn a lot to move the arm a little. Like first gear. It has strength, and when you move the stick it moves the surface slowly smoothly and predictably. Expo adds resolution. PLus the servo is much stronger like a bike in first gear. Bad resolution makes a servo very weak.

    What was ommited to mention, fundamental information, is that the maximal servo travel needs to be utilized in order to achieve best possible servoresultion.

      This is not correct. You just need to be above 120 or so. Do not…. I repeat…. Do not just set max travel to servo. If max travel exceeds physical limits it can be disastrous or at the very least overdriving the servo. At the worst, you will cut your gimbal movement and ruin your resolution by hitting the endpoint too quickly. Meaning you will reach max travel before your stick is all the way, conversely everything will be overly sensitive. I’m virtually all of my aircraft, if anything actually hits 150% travel, I change the servo arm. The ultimate goal is to make sure you never hit 150% otherwise you are using the wrong servo arm.

      On high rates, the servo travel should be between 100% and 125%. If you set it to 150%, you won’t have any travel left for trim. On low rates, you shouldn’t go below 50%.

    I suck at flying. It is windy every day here. sometimes it's calm early in the morning.

    Just got mine in. I have no idea how u got that elevator in without cutting a slot. I also noticed where my motor mounts is super crooked.

    • @MichaelWargo
      @MichaelWargo  Před 2 lety +1

      You can cut a slot, but If I remember right, it is inserted backwards, then flipped once in. Also, There is a bit down and left to all motor box to create correct thrust angle.Actually I am not sure what you mean. I am guessing this is what you mean

      @@MichaelWargo I just did a maiden flight. Flew ok but very under powered. I got the turnigy 2830 1130kv motor in the suggested motor when ordered. I’m definitely going to change. What do you think I should get. I have a 40a esc. Or do you think this motor can handle 4s?

      @@airbrainaerials You should fly it on 4s. IT is not really fast on 3s. I liked 3s for low slow 3d, and 4s for everything else. YEs. Just fly on 4s IT is very very lively and fast.

    Mr Wargo. Your information is incorrect.
    The servoarm must be 90 degree, in neutral, to the linkage, NOT the servo.
