The Extremist is (for me) the best Joe's album, and one of the greatest instrumental albums ever! Joe, You're not only guitar but musical-emotional genius. Thank you.
All right, we all know and agree that Satch is a guitar god, but let's not forget his great band. They are the guys who make it possible for Joe to go crazy and come up with all these amazing tunes.
I love the way he plays these songs slightly differently each time he goes live. Just the odd section, more taps, more bends. Every one is an original. And he LOVES to play, that's so clear. Best guitarist the World will ever know.
You see, I love improvisation and it's an essential skill in a musician and of course I love it with guitarists, but there are times when a piece is composed with a certain riff, a certain melody and indeed, sometimes a certain LEAD. We all know Satch can legato his way up and down scales and modes, highlight chord changes, all that stuff. But for me, there's a very specific actual solo/lead that he played on the studio record of a piece like 'War' that I think is wholly part of the piece, it's not just 'some take', although it may have been that at the time.
There are other pieces in Satch's huge catalog that I feel are much more 'free' for reinterpretation, and almost any fan would acknowledge that a piece like Cool #9, within the overall structure; is just waiting for whatever Dorian-based ideas Satch can throw at it each time he plays it live. But something like 'Crush of Love'? Nope, it has to be played as it is.
Incredible guitarist and human being was able to meet him and Eric Johnson, both on the same tour it was such an awesome day! War is my Favorite of all my faves of Satriani
@@DanielVerberne I'm two years late to the party here but just want to say I wholeheartedly agree. I was so wanting to hear the "studio" version played the same "live". 10 seconds into the heart of the "war" I was disappointed. Back to the studio version I go.
the riff at 1:59 is the grooviest ever composed ...
key change?
The best of all Guitarist!!.
1:58 That's the most bad-ass riff I've ever heard.
I remember air-guitaring that riff through all the changes to my sister and her boyfriend. They looked at me like I was a deranged dude...which I was... 😎
His hair migrated from his head to his arms to get closer to the music.
Drimirin rofl! classic.
how do you come up with this stuff ??? lmao
I play also like this
Olórin hahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahaha
Lol.. 😆
i'm in love with this song; i love it and I love J.S. He's fantastic
Me too
Joe-hannes Sebastiani...
Joe is from another planet and I’m not sure what planet but I bet they all play guitar. The greatest without a doubt
Jeff Campitelli is one of my favourite drummers....I just love his whole sound, and his drum parts work perfectly with Joes awesome guitar work :p
Joe has called him the human metronome.
He fits Joes style perfectly. Love it !!
29 people would rather listen to "Peace"
Simply put...the most versatile and greatest guitarist whom ever lived.
buckethead disagrees
@@MrSMGun Bucket head couldn't do half the stuff Satch does or does he have multiple Grammy awards lol . Just look up Joe Satriani on Wikki & see how long the list of accomplishments Joe has achieved which is longer than your arm while bucket head is too scared to come out & play in the public with out that stupid KFC bucket on his head . Bucket head is more of a shredder & not all that melodic or does he play much with a blues influence or style or the fact he also isn't a guitar teacher like Joe is .
@@peteloomis8456 joe is great. not gonna diss him like you did buckethead. but saying that bucket does not do half what joe does is absurd? have you listened to his +300 albums and btw how many does satriani have? the fact that buckethead does not show his face, tells who care about appearances and who cares about actual music. he cares about music. fame and money are not his primary objectives which is very rare these days.
Edit: you are telling me that this war song is better than this czcams.com/video/3S_rPUdIc7Q/video.html gtfo. he goes from one theme to another flawlessly.
Bucket head sucks
@@MrSMGun Any good guitar player can go from one style to another seamlessly . I doubt very much he has 300 albums just for the fact that not many even know who this guy is or do you see his albums CDs for sale at record stores or other places that sell music . I can see 300 songs written with some probably not being finished or published to get recorded through a well known record company although most music now is done by the artist using a computer & pro tools just for the fact they would rather do it that way to save money & not having to deal with the music companies who always seem to want to change the music or artist into something they aren't or changing the music so it fits the radio listeners more . There are many guitar players that have huge catalogs of songs they have written down on paper 1000s of songs or parts of songs that need finishing . Now days the artist doesn't make the money off of the album sales much at all like it used to be, it's all made now by touring non stop around the world so even if he did have 300 albums which I highly doubt he still isn't making the money or getting the recognition from people or other top musicians like Joe has done & worked with . Bucket heads good but from listening to some of his music I just don't hear that edge out there like Joe Steve Via & a few other well known guitar players seem to have that no others seem to be able to achieve technically or tone wise that comes from how you play & not just the amplifier tones or how it's EQed and mixed at the board . Every musician isn't in it for the money or shouldn't be but because they love what they do & Joe's the same way being he likes playing with other musicians & guitar gods on stage & seeing the stuff they can do that he has admitted he can't although he probably can but either won't admit it or with some time & messing around could figure it out just like me or you would do when trying to learn a riff or hot lead on a song you love & just have to figure out how they did it . Myself if I were bucket head I would put myself out there more & try to get with other well known musicians to do more music with & possibly tour with them more which would get him more recognition & all that comes when this happens which ultimately would set him up for life & not having to worry about when & where his next paycheck is coming . To me though I think this is why he doesn't do this is because he wants to not be identified who he is because I am sure if he did tour with other well known guitar players they would figure out who he is & maybe he's already made it big in another band years ago so like you said maybe it isn't because of the fame or money or the chicks but just for the fun of it which is what it's about but to me if your working that hard to be that good why not take advantage of the other things that come with it . He even could be a well known session player for all we know who has spent countless hours in a recording studio sitting in with other bands & artist's to help them on the music they are making like Jimmy Page from ZEP did for many years as well as a bunch of other guitarists I could name off but won't because they weren't rock oriented guitar players & the fact I just wrote a damn book here lol.
The best musician, and person. Satriani is amazing.
That keyboard player really adds something.
Joe is always good.
+Icepacalypse johnson That's Mike Keneally, he's a fantastic musician!
Mike Keneally is a GOD!
2:30 wow
I,m from iran and think joe with this song speak from past and future.
I agree with you brother..
Greetings from indonesia🇮🇩
Agree. Greetings from Israel 😀
War is coming to Iran it seems….let’s hope peace prevails!
Total mastery of the fretboard. Tone. Melody. Speed. Feedback control! He's got it all. Been a fan since Surfin'.
Kind of Michael Jordan of the guitar. Control of everything 👍
THAT SOLO!!! Oh my God!!! Such a Master !!
Too right!😎
I don't understand you folks. The solo here is just an improv - don't you miss the studio version of the solo? THAT was the War solo, not some random blues solo then switching the wah-wah on for the legato part. I wish Satch would honour the recorded parts rather than fucking with them. As I've said before, there are pieces in Satch's vast repertoire like Cool #9 that totally lend themselves to an almost jazzy approach; to a free-structured, free-flowing re-interpretation of the piece within the overall Dorian-blues structure; but there's also pieces that are awesome BECAUSE of the specific part Joe laid down at recording.
AWESOME TRACK ... I CAN HEAR IT 100000000 TIMES
The new version with keyboards its awesome!!! I love it! More modern!! Great job guys!!
Sheer talent!
Greatest guitar player that ever lived or will.
this is the heaviest and raunchiest i've heard Joe's songs sound live! The sound and chemistry and energy here is palpably potent!!! This is how this song deserves to be staged and experienced by us and the band. WOW ... War sounds so #$&%$%$ good here!!!!
I have only been playing guitar for around 4 years, but Joe Satriani has to be my main influence to play guitar. I have never witnessed a more mindblowing performance than any Satch song. It's not just the tone, or the guitar, or the faces.. It's the excellent songwriting this guy does, it is the coolest thing in the world to be able to make simple stuff sound so awesome. Joe Satriani is my biggest influence!!
I used to be a fan of Joe Satriani, too, but after he threw out his American pedals and started buying Chinese pedals, the sound completely disappeared from him, the sound became dirty and bad Since then he needs to throw out everything Chinese and get his happiness back
Great song and one of the craziest solos Joe ever recorded.
Joe never plays the same thing twice. He never has the exact same set list. He sounds even better live. He continues to put out amazing material. He’s almost 70. He is the best living electric guitar player. Surf on Joe. Looking forward to that 19th album when you release it.
I love that there are no costumes, no gimmicks, no fanfare!!! Just as you see artists!!!! Joe and his band doing great music!!!!!!! i suppose the video in the background is fanfare but not so much compared to what is the norm today. Go Joe!
I play this song by my mouth like: waaaoww wa-waaaaowwwwww 🤣
Alan and Mike have really come together nicely with Jeff Joe and Galen. This is best line up.
Alan attacks and gives awesome presence and sound. I have heard and love Stu and Dave. This is something different. Like Matt Bisonette on red bull. Great BAND Joe Satriani. MY favorite line up after all these years. And to think he was crying behind those sunglasses cause of his mom. My music hero. And I'm a drummer.
2:45 gives me goosebumps every time. Such a vicious riff.
It's just a shame it's in the wrong tuning, the effect is not the same as the studio version. Meant to be all a half step lower, which gives all the instruments a darker and quite different tone. But .....most fans don't seem to care.
ROCKING TO THE BONE!
Great song. Stop all the wars in the world. Thank you.❤️✨🌍
SUPER JOE SATRIANI ............................................. INCREDIBLE !
one of my fave tunes!..this is considered a classic!definitely!..LONG LIVE SATCH!!!..KEEP ON SHREDDING AND ROCKING!!!
This is one of his best performances....what a Guitar GOD.
Big fan of Joes. Have been for years.
Joe taught Steve how to play, but both have there own style's my two favorite guitarist.....

indeed the best song from joe
My favorite guitar player of all times. Always amazing. Oh my God. I'm going to buy a TV 3D and a Blue Ray 3D only to watch it at home several times.
I love the way the keyboard doubles with the melody guitar after the solo. Love that sound.
Love this song, and the solo is like on the cd,so clear and fluid.....Forever Satch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love it. Seeing this performance again, brings back some awesome memories. Going to this concert in Brussels was one of the best decisions ever, especially because I got to see the man backstage. He appears to be such a normal man and yet he blows your mind away like it's nothing.
super solo from master Joe..he never ceases to amaze!
Best performance of War I've seen yet! St Joe!!
What a feel!!
Right mixture of feel , melody , speed and technique.
Joe, thanks for the amazing music.

When I listen to Joe's music the melody lines are so powerful and melodious.
Saw Satch in 1989 at the Cotati Cabaret in Cotati, California. He just gets better and better.
He made my favorite song even better,, WOW,, love that guitar. FLAWLESS VICTORY!!!!!!! liked, shared and faved!!!This is the year for UNCLE JOE!!!
I used to be a fan of Joe Satriani, too, but after he threw out his American pedals and started buying Chinese pedals, the sound completely disappeared from him, the sound became dirty and bad Since then he needs to throw out everything Chinese and get his happiness back

Unreal my favourite Sat track, bought Satchurated just this weekend, guitar genius. The band also incredibly tight. Best guitarist I have ever seen.
I had the riff from this song stuck in my head constantly from 2006-2008. No joke, and I still love this song.
A masterpiece !!! So excelent !!
That is some really good graphics for 2012
I saw this tour in Reno....Just amazing to see it again. .
Simply the best.🇨🇦❤️
Dear Joe...I will never be the same ....sincerely...Dr Elevens
GEATTTT! Love this song! Keep on Joe!
"War" was one of the biggest early rock guitar influences on me. The loud, in your face playing, with middle-eastern flavours, it was very new to me.
im sure ... im pretty sure ... i am crying rite now for this BEAUTIFUL creation of satriani .. THANKS BE TO GOD ....
The in the pocket groove that lays down a solid canvas for melodic melt your face off guitar is just mesmerizing🤘🤘🤘‼️‼️‼️And the melody of War is stellar🤲✌️🤲
Fantastic!!!
The Ultimate Master! I don't play guitar, but I sure don't hear any mistakes with Joe's playing.
luv this track !
All time Joe Staria fav!

We recharge the batteries of life with Mr. Santriani pure adrenaline rockkkkkkk
THE MASTER IS AT WORK!!!!!
What Can you Say ? Joe is a Maestro ...........
Was the best show I saw live ever at the metropolis
A masterpiece in every aspect .
Yep Vai is surely Joe's prodidgy, He found fame before his Master but never forgot the face of his master (Old school people any where in the world had great values even in the fame industry). He Introduced Joe at many gigs and never once claimed that he was greater than Joe. Mostly Joe's early great work went unnoticed specially the album ' Flying in a blue dream' which till date most contemporary rock guitarist arguably say that was his greatest work. Man 3 Cheers for Steve Vai too
Perfect mix.
loving the marshalls!
Master !!!! ♥️
