I was cooking some eggs this morning on my Dash egg steamer and the timer went off. I thought to myself, "where have I heard that tune before?" I thought for a while...and then it hit me! I remember listening to this song on the radio back in the 70s called "time has come" by the Chambers Brothers. It's the intro to their song "time has come", how appropriate!...

If you drop the cracked hard cooked eggs back into the cold water for a minute they will peel more easily. Crack them all and let them sit for a few seconds so the water gets under the inner membrane. Easy peasy.

But it is definitely my hard boiled go-to device. Perfect yolks every time. Little known egg fact: Very fresh eggs don't peel as well as slightly older eggs. A better way to peel the eggs, I've found, is to 'pinch' the fat end first. Doing this gets you under that skin that's below the shell and once you're under the skin, the shell practically falls away.

I have this exact model. Cooks hard boiled eggs perfectly. But with omelets and poached eggs I find I have to add a lot more water. Seems like it cooks better on top than bottom. I’ve found that even though it looks done when you flip them out of pans they are not done on bottom side. I like my omelette on firmer side so when I flipped it out at first and it wasn’t done on bottom it was firm enough I could put the half done omelette back in the tray ( flipping it wit the undone side up this time) and added more water and it came out perfect. Kind of a hassle though. Any suggestions? Poached eggs are a little more difficult so I guess all I can do is add more water. Trial and error I suppose.

After 10 minutes I had a mostly uncooked omelette. I used the required amount of water too. So far I'm not impressed. Haven't tried hard boiled eggs yet.

I love the feeling when things take you back to your childhood.
It is probably one of my favorite products I have reviewed. It’s the only way I hard boil my eggs now.

I used this while watching your video. My wife got it for me because I love hard boiled eggs and was telling her it would work a lot better if I had some kind of basket for eggs that you could lower and raise from a pan of boiling water. I haven't opened one yet, because they're cooling off right now.

@@2centchick So far. My wife made some after me and thinks she somehow didn't poke the holes exactly right, because a couple of them cooked a bit outside of the holes. Have you tried boiling/steaming them without making the holes?

      @@turn-n-burn1421 No I haven’t.

I think the water shoots out because of the hole in the shell. But I think the hole helps in cooking and shell removal? I love the alarm sound though (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤

Thank you for bringing up the pressure cooker. I bought a different brand of this years ago. The concept has been going around under various labels since the 70s. I think Freaking Reviews found an unopened one from then. But I’m still a big fan of the pressure cooker for boiling eggs. All that puncturing the shells and measuring the water, ehh. I’ve done as many as 30 eggs at one time in the pressure cooker. The hardest part was lifting all those hot eggs out and getting them into the ice water one at a time. But these little cookers do work and produce good boiled eggs, as you showed here.

  • @bypasstoaleanerlynn8920

I figured the hard-boiled eggs would work cuz basically, both the IP & the dash are using steam to cook the eggs. How did the poached eggs taste? Not rubbery?

They were good, not rubbery at all. I had 2 more this morning.

Is that music for alarm coming from the machine ? Or some kind of timer ? My Dash egg maker has a built-in alarm and it tells you when they are done. We use ours to death, we've had it for about 3 yrs now 😊

@@2centchick I must have an older one, mine has a little generic beep LOL, I mostly use mine for boiled eggs though, I don't like the omelet and pouched eggs from the dash machine : )

I am following the directions and your video… have used 3 times and my eggs come out med. Today I only used 3 eggs, correct amount of water… timer went off at 12 min exactly… still soft. Anyway, will play around with it… maybe ADD more water to cook longer. The eggs are delicious for a quick breakfast but as is can’t make deviled eggs unless they are cooked through. 😮

I agree with you about pressure cooker eggs-that’s hard to beat. The only disadvantage is the size of the cooker. I also like that I don’t have to poke holes in my eggs, position them any certain way, that I can do a dozen or more at a time, and that my pressure cooker shuts itself off. It seems like this should shut itself off. I did get egg leaking and splitting with this. But again, much smaller than the pressure cooker.
