Things haven't been looking too good for our Custard the bus. After a breakdown last week that cost us £650 she takes another turn for the worst, this time on the crazy fast German Autobahn where there is no speed limit. Craig and bike jones to the rescue. (It wasn't as dangerous as it seems promise) This is the end of van life for now as we drop out van to Gary from Barry to work on and renovate for the next few months ready for a new adventure soon.

You literally got away with murder in Germany. They fine you for running out of fuel on the motorway. What you did with your bike… omg. It’s called being a ghost driver…but normally in a car not on a bike.
I am going to show my husband now. He‘ll divorce me simply for being Welsh, too, when he sees it.

I haven't driven in Germany since 2015, but even then I remember the term "GHOST RIDERS" Oh yeah! Wow... Yeah Craig is one Balzy dude!!! :)
First thing I made a point of emphasizing to my husband when we moved to Germany is the fine for running out of fuel on the autobahn since he enjoys living on the edge and procrastinating on filling the tank.
The fine is just because there are horrible accidents when cars stand on crowded streets without speed limit. Dozens die each year, also policemen, medics, construction workers, car assistance, etc.
What lads did here is highly dangerous. They were lucky this part of Germany and the Autobahn are very quiet.
And driving on a bike on the Autobahn is like attempting suicide. That’s nothing to make fun about. I guess you aren’t aware of what you did.

Being German, you absolutely terrified me with a bike on the Autobahn! Honestly had to look away when you entered via the exit lane 😅
If you are changing the color, I suggest the back end of the bus be done with safety yellow and reflective strips to make it safer when you break down.
I would suggest just fixing it so it does not break down 😂
Sell the bus and get a Suzuki Super Carry far better on fuel!

Putting the fuel in the tank, maybe next time do it standing behind the safety railing. Because if someone would've crashed Custard in that moment, well..
People never think that it's going to be them when it comes to highway accidents, but accidents while stranded happen a lot unfortunately.

OMG I almost died of anxiety seeing you bike on the Autobahn (I'm German). That was so dangerous! If you break down on the Autobahn, just get behind the safety railing away from your vehicle and call for help! Do not walk on it or bike on it! I am so glad nothing happened to you.

What i learned in preparing to drive in Germany:
Running out of fuel on the Autobahn is illegal, as it as seen as a preventable circumstance, and leads to stopping on the Autobahn, which, as stated in rule 2, is prohibited.
So glad I stumbled past one of your videos a couple of months ago, now tune in every week

There are different colors of custard: vanilla custard, English custard, strawberry custard, pumpkin custard, rum custard or you could always go with the Spanish version… flan 😊

Hi Guys! Can't wait t see your next adventure! Re: new colour/s for "custard"....many,many years ago when I was at school....not only did they serve yellow custard....but some days they did "pink custard" and even " chocolate custard" on special occasions. To be honest,it was the late 60's n 70's...and no excuses were made for the colourants used! No real fruit or chocolate actually involved.But as you two seem t enjoy "retro" designs...I've noticed that many fabrics n clothes often used those colour combo's.. perhaps the designers were influenced by their school dinners!

Dear Amy - I just watched your 10-18-20 video (sorry I'm way behind) - I started loosing track of when I had cancer after year 15. Before it was always cut & clear - now it's getting a little bit blurry even if every morning I'm reminded of it as I have to take meds (thyroid). I don't feel like it might spring on me, I'm more relaxed. My sister (who is still living) was diagnosed 5 yrs before me, right after she turned 30. She paved the road for me. I lost a good friend 3 yrs ago June 24, she passed a year exactly after being diagnosed. And you always wonder, why ? - F........... Cancer !

We just drove back from Germany to Lincoln (VW Golf, not van). We spent the night in Antwerp, it was supposed to be a 5 hour drive from Quedlinburg. We left at 10. We checked into our hotel at quarter to 8! So much traffic and roadworks and accidents on the Autobahn.
Where should you take Custard next? I think another European trip, but different countries than last time would be awesome. And of course, can't wait until you bring Custard to Canada!! Happy birthday Aimee! Enjoy your vacation.
