- Engelbert Humperdinck was born Arnold Dorsey in India. The family, including nine brothers and sisters emigrated in 1946 to Leicester in Britain. He at one point the name Engelbert Humperdinck, as he later came to stand in a lawsuit filed against him by the heirs of the famous German composer Engelbert Humperdinck. There is absolutely no relationship between them.
In 1966, for his great success period, he performed regularly in Belgium, especially in Knokke and Mechelen. In Zeebrugge, a video clip was recorded. Belgium was the cradle of Humperdinck's success. [1] [2] He scored in Flanders six No. 1 hits which he was a total of 32 weeks at the top position. He sold 150 million records worldwide, which received 72 gold and 23 platinum records.
In 1997 brought Humperdinck, in collaboration with, among others, Peter Koelewijn, the album A little in love out. The album consists of 13 English-language covers of original songs in Dutch. [3]
In early June 2007, he was in the Netherlands together with the Toppers and top dancers Remco Bastiaansen and Charissa Dipte of six times in the Amsterdam ArenA.
In March 2012 the BBC announced Humperdinck as the UK entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. He represented the UK with the song Love Will Set You Free, written by Martin Terefe and Sacha Skarbek. The UK was directly qualified for the final, which immediately Humperdinck first took office.
